Road Math 🚨🏍️

The Road Math is definitely “mathing” — and it adds up quickly!

A rider was recently stopped travelling 122 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on the Sunshine Coast.

The result?..... A $483 ticket, a 7-day vehicle impound, and a long walk to rethink those speeding choices.

Speeding puts everyone at risk, especially during the busy summer season when our roads are filled with families, cyclists, pedestrians, and visitors enjoying the Coast.

Slow down, stay alert, and help keep our community safe this summer!

Speed Zone Highlight – Slow Down Sunshine Coast!
As part of our Summer on the Coast campaign, the Sunshine Coast RCMP will be highlighting areas where officers will be focusing on speeding and road safety enforcement.
Speed limits are there for a reason — especially near residential areas, parks, crosswalks, and school zones. Even a few extra kilometres per hour can make a major difference in stopping distance and collision severity.
🚗 Slow down
👀 Stay alert
🚸 Watch for pedestrians and cyclists
Let’s work together to keep our roads safe for everyone enjoying the Sunshine Coast this summer.

E-Scooter Safety – Ride Smart, Ride Safe

E-scooters are a fun and convenient way to get around the Sunshine Coast, but safety always comes first. Before you ride, make sure you know the rules:

🛴 Riders must be 16+

🪖 Wear an approved helmet

🚲 Ride in designated cycling lanes where required

👤 One rider only

💡 Make sure your scooter has lights and a bell

⚠️ Slow down and stay alert around pedestrians and school zones

A safe ride helps keep everyone in our community protected this summer. Enjoy the ride, respect the rules, and help make our roads and pathways safer for all.
