The Library is calling all heroes to celebrate Seniors Month at this year’s Next Chapter Living celebration. Powered by an incredible league of local partners in arts, culture, health, and recreation, this action-packed celebration promises a day full of fun, connection, and discovery. Join us alongside therapy dogs, Active Living 55+, VON Algoma, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, Algoma Ontario Health Team, author Andy Taylor, and more for a fun day! There will be crafts, drop-in tech help to boost your digital superpowers, and plenty of fun extras throughout the day. This is a free program and no registration is required. Drop by the James L. Marie Public Library invites you to an engaging workshop exploring local rocks and gems, methods of preparing stones, and more. This workshop takes place at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, 50 East Street, on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Doors open at 2:00 p.m., with the program beginning at 2:15 sharp. This is a free event, and registration is required. Get ready to kick off Pride Month at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library with a free film screening and vintage button-making session! Watch the acclaimed film Parade: Q***r Acts of Love and Resistance, a bold documentary that depicts the history of the 2SLGBTQI+ rights movement in Canada. From drag shows and community organizing to police raids and protests on Parliament Hill, the film honours the elders and activists whose defiance helped shape a more inclusive society. After the film screening, stay to make a vintage-inspired pride button, with all supplies provided. The film will be shown in the Program Room at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, 50 East Street, Sault Ste. Marie, on Sunday, May 31, 2026. Doors open at 2 p.m., with the screening starting by 2:15. Admission is free, but space is limited.
