Parent Advocates for Autism Treatment in Saskatchewan

Parent Advocates for Autism Treatment in Saskatchewan Our mission is to ensure every individual with autism in Saskatchewan has access to adequate treatment and services.

Parent Advocates for Autism Treatment in Saskatchewan (PAATS) started with a small group of parents that were determined to to have therapies and interventions for their children on the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). There is little or nothing available for individuals on the Autism Spectrum in Saskatchewan in terms of treatment or services. The number of individuals diagnosed with Autism is incr

easing and the amount allotted from the government for autism is small in comparison to other provinces. Parents or caregivers are often left with little options and no supports. PAATS is raising money to hire an individual to lobby the Saskatchewan Government for self- directed funding for all people with ASD. Brad Wall, Premier of Saskatchewan, said he wanted to make this province the best place to live in Canada for those with disabilities. In order for this to happen, families and caregivers of individuals with ASD need assistance to develop a strategic plan of action. We need intervention for individuals with autism of all ages. PAATS firmly believe that every person with Autism should have equal opportunities as any individual. They all have different strengths and abilities, and deserve to live to their full potential. There should be opportunities to work and participate in community events with acceptance from those around them.
