Saskatoon Sexual Assault & Information Centre SSAIC exists to contend with sexualized violence and its effects upon individuals and the community.

SSAIC exists to contend with sexual violence and its effects upon individuals and the community. We aspire to a society where all may achieve their full potential free from sexualized violence in any form. We will focus our efforts in support of this mission by:

- Promoting the healing and empowerment of persons who have experienced sexualized violence
Increasing community awareness of sexualized

violence and its effects
- Changing societal attitudes that perpetuate sexualized violence
- Strengthening collaboration among individuals and organizations working towards the elimination of sexualized violence
- Contributing to the development of social, legal and educational policies relating to the elimination of sexualized violence.

For survivors of sexualized violence, institutional decisions like these can carry a weight that extends far beyond the headlines.

They can bring up difficult questions about safety, accountability, credibility, and whether the harm they experienced is truly taken seriously.

Not only do these decisions impact survivors, they shape the messages our communities receive about what is acceptable, what can be forgiven, and whose safety is prioritized when accountability comes into conflict with opportunity.

Survivors should never have to carry the weight of these messages alone.💟

On Sept. 17 at 6 PM, join us for a community screening of Code of Misconduct, followed by a panel discussion addressing gender-based violence and the need for change. 🎟Tickets are by donation and available through the link in their bio. Another year, another round of Community Sessions! ⭐

SSAIC is committed to supporting youth and their families! Our education team is excited to host another year of I’m the Boss of Me and No Is a Full Sentence in the community after-school hours, where youth can learn, connect, and build skills around boundaries, consent, healthy relationships, and more..

🕑Sessions will be about 60 minutes in length, and participation of youth will be contingent on your support.

💚 I'm the Boss of Me will be open to all students aged 8 - 11 (approximately Grade 3 - 5).

💙 No is a Full Sentence will be available to those 12 - 15 (approximately Grade 7 - 9).

⭐Caregiver information sessions will also be offered in tandem with the youth sessions to better equip families in having these conversations and reinforcing these lessons in the home.

81% of Canadians agree that sexual and reproductive health is an essential part of healthcare.

Yet here in Saskatchewan, we continue to see some of the highest rates of STIs and adolescent pregnancy in Canada. Our province also holds the highest rates of intimate partner violence and sexualized violence.

Sexual health is a fundamental part of overall well-being. Accessible and adequate sexual health services benefit everyone, not just a few. Without them, we face increased public health burdens, negative impacts on mental health, economic instability, and higher rates of sexualized violence.

At SSAIC, we believe in the power of sexual health. Everyone deserves the right to learn about autonomy, pleasure, risks and consequences, their rights, and the resources available to them.

SSAIC has always stood for sexual health, and we will continue to do so.

What would you say if someone you love told you they had experienced sexualized violence?

You don’t need to be a counsellor, educator, or professional to play an important role in a survivor’s support system. Knowing how to respond when someone does share their experience can make the biggest difference in their healing.

Supporting Survivors of Sexualized Violence Training™ is a six-hour virtual course designed to equip you with the tools to respond ethically, compassionately, and confidently when someone discloses sexualized violence.

Campus should be a safe place for learning and community for everyone.💜

Sexualized violence can show up in classrooms, residences, campus bars, parties, online spaces, and everyday conversations. Prevention starts with recognizing harmful behaviours and knowing that we can do something about them. 🗣️

🚩If you see someone being pressured, hear a r**e joke, see an intimate image being shared without consent, or notice someone who may be unable to consent—say something.

You don’t have to have the perfect words or know exactly what to do. But when one person calls out harmful behaviour, you’re not only helping someone out of an unsafe situation, you’re also showing others that it’s okay to speak up and that sexualized violence is never something we have to accept.

Sexualized violence is never made less real by the circumstances surrounding it.

A relationship does not mean ongoing consent.
Not reporting does not mean it didn’t happen.
Consent to one thing is not consent to everything.
Drinking never validates harm.

Whatever the circumstances may be, a choice was made to cross a boundary and to not respect consent.

Survivors deserve to be believed, supported, and respected, regardless of the circumstances. 💜

Another season of Trauma-Informed Yoga is here!

SSAIC offers trauma-informed yoga to survivors, secondary survivors, and anyone who has been impacted by sexualized violence. 💜

These sessions are designed to support relaxation, mindfulness, and overall well-being. 🧘‍♀️🌿

Classes will be facilitated by Steph Locke, a social worker with 20+ years of experience, a passion for holistic health care, and a strong background in trauma-informed yoga & yoga nidra. 🙏
