♾️ Western Region 2A congratulates Lorna Ledoux on her appointment as Interim Clerk of the Métis Nation Legislative Assembly (MNLA).

We wish Lorna well as she takes on this important role supporting our Assembly and Métis governance. The formal appointment will be brought forward for consideration by MNLA resolution in November.

From the lively sounds of spoons and bones to the beat of a hand drum, Métis music reflects the creativity, resilience, and rich cultural traditions of our people. These musical traditions bring generations together through music, dance, and storytelling!

Louis Riel played a significant role in shaping the history of the Métis Nation and continues to inspire generations of Métis people to stand proudly in their culture, language, and traditions.

His courage, leadership, and dedication to his people remain an important part of our shared history and heritage. Today, we celebrate his legacy and the strength, resilience, and pride of the Métis Nation.

The Christmas season is just around the corner, and MN–S is here to help spread joy!
Applications are now open for Enn List Dooshihtanaan (We’re Making a List), a program that provides Christmas gifts for Métis children from birth to age 12.
Families with a household income under $120,000 can apply now through to November 13, 2026. Gifts will be wrapped with care to brighten the holidays for our youngest Citizens.

We’re here for Métis families navigating the toughest of times. 💙
The Family Information Liaison Outreach (FILO) program is a Métis-specific service offering trauma-informed supports to families of missing and murdered Métis women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. FILO practices traditional protocols to honour Métis culture and ensures every family’s healing journey is unique to their needs.

FILO can:
✨ Help families access information from police, coroners, or other public agencies
✨ Attend meetings with public officials to provide support firsthand
✨ Be a resource for healing through gatherings, grief support, and more

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, Western Region 2A is honoured to celebrate May Henderson, a Métis woman whose dedication, perseverance, resilience and Métis pride reflect the strength of our cherished Métis matriarchs. ♾️💙

Our history lives in the women who carry our stories, stand strong through challenges and inspire the generations following in their footsteps. May, your example reminds us why we must honour and celebrate these women, both in our history and among us today.

On behalf of WR2A, we wish you a beautiful birthday filled with love, laughter and the warmth of family and community. May you feel as celebrated and appreciated as you deserve to be.

Fiddle Showcase, woo hoo! 🎻 We’re looking forward to Nov. 7 at Grosvenor Church, where we’ll be part of the backup band, alongside Cathy Sproule. This showcase features fiddlers Eve Turner and Joseph Desjarlais, and may include a couple of songs from us! Nora’s Little Jiggers will also be dancing during the show, which is extra exciting!
