Just over a month ago, the Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) government asked Saskatchewan to support the creation of a national Indigo Alert system.

Today, Saskatchewan Community Safety Minister Minister Michael Weger travelled to Saskatoon with Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) President and Fire Commissioner Marlo Pritchard to meet with MN–S officials.
MN–S Health and Mental Health Minister Beverly Fullerton, joined by Ministers King, McLennan, and Heiser, asked Saskatchewan to back the call for a national Indigo Alert system. They also urged the province to amend its existing alert system in the interim, while governments consider what a national model could look like.
A national alert would broaden Amber Alert criteria to include vulnerable missing individuals, regardless of age.

This year’s Youth Summer Gathering was awesome! Maarsii to everyone who joined us out at Dumont Lodge!
We shared stories, learned new skills, and made friendships that will last a lifetime. It was incredible to see our Métis youth gathered in community with Elders and peers, growing connections to their culture, language, and identity. Among attendees, the Gathering was honoured to be joined by Métis Veteran Jason Demerais.

A special thank you to PMYC President Rachael Heiser and the Provincial Métis Youth Council for supporting the 3rd annual youth gathering.

We can’t wait to see you all next year!

Métis Nation–Saskatchewan has partnered with the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation to help registered Métis citizens access safe, responsible, and ethical hunting education. MN–S will fully cover course fees for eligible citizens enrolled for in-person Saskatoon classes including hunter safety, PAL, and RPAL.

As Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation approach, MN–S has new learning resources to help teachers and families have meaningful, age-appropriate conversations about residential schools, identity, culture, belonging and reconciliation.

Designed for different stages of learning, the resources include guided activities, reflection opportunities and Heritage Michif language and pronunciation to bring Métis perspectives into learning.

Whether you’re preparing your classroom or continuing the conversation at home, these resources can help make September 30th a day of learning, reflection and action.

Eligible families with children ages 0–12 could see childcare fees reduced to as low as $10 a day, and families earning $100,000 or less may be eligible for full coverage.
