DONATION GUIDELINES
As our library is quite small we may not be able to accept all donations. Please refer to our donation guidelines and then

send us a private message with a photo of your donation for approval. Items must but be clean
Items must be in good working order
For fire safety, items must not be gas powered. Items must be small and light enough to transport down stairs. We may refuse items at our discretion. You may leave your contact details to take the item back at any time. In the case that we re-donate unpopular items we will contact the original donor if they request it. Please provide the manual if possible. Popular items tend to fall under the following categories:
Tools, camping and sports equipment, board games, toys and house party supplies.

A big thank you to the Caswell Hill Community Association for inviting us to join Art in the Park last weekend! 🎨🌳

We loved connecting with community members and sharing the Library of Things YXE. We're also grateful for the beautiful art donation that was dropped off for the library this weekend.

Why buy it when you can borrow it?

This scroll saw costs $199.99 to purchase at our neighbourhood tool store, but members can borrow it as part of their membership.

For many people, a scroll saw is the kind of tool you only need occasionally. Instead of spending money on something that may sit on a shelf most of the year, borrow it when you need it and return it when you're done.

We’re excited to be an official Pride vendor at the Community Services Village during Saskatoon Pride! 🌈

⏰ 12 PM – 6 PM

Stop by our booth and check out our brand-new Pride button design! We’ll also have our button maker on site, so you can create your own button for free.

Additional buttons can be made with a $1 donation per button to help cover supply costs.

We’ll also be collecting SARCAN bottles to help fund memberships for community members who may not be able to afford one. ♻️ Recycling bins will be available at our booth for loose bottles during the event.

Have a bag of bottles you’d like to donate? Drop them off at SARCAN Drop & Go using the group phrase “Library of Things”. Every donation helps make borrowing more accessible for our community.

🌎 Over time we're spotlighting a fellow Library of Things from around the world!
We are united by the same goal: Helping people borrow what they need, save money, and reduce waste.

Meet the North Kohala Tool Library (NKTL) in Kapaʻau, Hawaiʻi. Since opening in 2023, NKTL has grown to nearly 200 members, built an inventory of over 1,000 tools, and completed more than 3,600 tool loans. Powered by volunteers and supported through donations, grants, and used tool sales, they provide affordable access to tools, equipment, and hands-on learning opportunities for their community.

What makes NKTL especially inspiring is its commitment to reuse—nearly all of its tools have been donated by community members, with efforts made to repair, repurpose, and recycle whenever possible. 💚

Different island, same spirit of sharing. We are inspired by communities around the world that are making resources more accessible and helping people do more with less.

Introducing our 2026–2027 Perks Partners!

While they're new to our perks program, Dance Alive Studios is certainly not new to supporting the Library of Things YXE. We're excited to officially welcome them as a perks partner this year!

Dance Alive Studios specializes in adult dance and wellness programming, offering classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Theatre Dance, and more. Their welcoming environment encourages dancers of all experience levels to learn, grow, and have fun.

General30 and General50 members receive four free classes of their choice at Dance Alive Studios. Punch cards will be available at the library shortly for eligible members to pick up and redeem.

Backyard wedding season is here 💍☀️

Recently, one of our members borrowed our drink dispensers (Items 1197 & 1540) for a backyard wedding, and it’s a great reminder that not everything needs to be purchased to be useful.

Serving dispensers are perfect for events and gatherings, but for many people they may only get used once before ending up stored away collecting dust. Borrowing gives you access to what you need, when you need it, without the extra cost, clutter, or waste.

Why buy something for one event when you can borrow it instead? 🥂
