A hockey rink-sized reactor with reduced emissions.

SRC is helping bring the Westinghouse Electric Company eVinci® microreactor to life. A safe, self-regulating nuclear solution that can deliver clean, reliable power for up to 8 years without refueling.

With built-in safety features and no need for water or fuel handling, it’s designed for peace of mind, even in the most remote locations.

National Indigenous History Month here at SRC has been a time to reflect on the strength, resilience and beauty of Indigenous cultures and communities.

We’re grateful to our employees who joined us yesterday to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, and a special thank you to the Creeland Dancers for helping make this year’s celebration memorable.

Our team had the opportunity to tour Bruce A Nuclear Power Plant, one of the largest operating nuclear facilities in the world—and it did not disappoint!

Thank you to Bruce Power for the warm welcome and for sharing their knowledge of nuclear energy. From hands-on simulator training to rigorous safety systems and radiation protection protocols, we got a close-up look at the precision and care behind this essential energy source.

It was an eye-opening experience that gave us new insights into what it takes to run a facility like this and why nuclear energy plays such a critical role in Canada’s energy mix.

We’re excited to bring these lessons back to Saskatchewan as we continue to prioritize innovation in safety, sustainability and science.

SRC Nuclear is celebrating Saskatchewan and Canadian Innovation Week. We are turning innovation to action by pursuing the demonstration of a microreactor in Saskatchewan.

Nuclear microreactors are a clean energy source that can provide reliable power and heat and, compared to conventional reactors, are relatively small and simple to use.

Microreactors may be an ideal energy solution for off-grid or edge-of-grid applications in northern or remote areas of the province.

As the world looks to alternative energy sources, nuclear power is experiencing a resurgence.

To help assist with the energy transition in Saskatchewan, SRC Nuclear is working to bring a microreactor to the province. The team has been collaborating with Westinghouse Electric Canada for several years to learn more about their first-of-its-kind eVinci™ microreactor and its potential uses for Saskatchewan.

This microreactor is compact - estimated to cover less than the surface of a hockey rink - and inherently safe due to the fuel being coated in several layers of durable carbon and ceramic materials. It can generate enough power for up to 5,500 homes continuously in all types of weather for eight years.
