We’re looking for Directors to help shape the future of Sarnia’s Airport.
The City is establishing a Municipal Services Corporation to govern and operate the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport starting June 30, 2027.

The MSC's primary mandate is to oversee the safe operation of the airport, ensure its long-term financial sustainability, promote growth, and increase its overall economic impact for Sarnia and Lambton County.

The City of Sarnia is seeking four to six members of the public to serve as voting Directors on the MSC Board of Directors. Board Directors will help shape the future of YZR and contribute to the governance of this important regional transportation and economic asset.

The Board of Directors is "skills-based" and will be comprised of individuals who bring the mix of skills, expertise, and perspective needed to oversee the responsible, progressive operation of the airport while serving the unique and diverse needs of the people and businesses of Sarnia and Lambton County.

We’re looking for experience in Finance; Aviation or Transportation; Legal / Regulatory Knowledge; Real Estate Development; and/or Business Operations and Investments.

Celebrating Parks and Recreation Month!

Our parks wouldn’t be complete with out the various sports fields and facilities that provide the space for competition, athletics, and so many memories; and there is one City team that is there to keep all those fields and diamonds ready for sport.
Over the last couple of years the City has implemented a dedicated sports field maintenance team to ensure the surfaces our community rely on for athletics are kept at their best.

Our sports field team not only cuts and trims about 80 acres of parks and fields, they do all the line work and cultivation efforts such as seeding, aerating and fertilizing for:
⚽️17 natural soccer fields and 1 artificial turf
🎾15 tennis and pickleball courts
⚾️14 baseball diamonds
🏏1 cricket Pitch

It’s a tremendous amount of work, all done to keep sports active and alive here in our community!

June is Parks and Recreation Month, and our parks just wouldn’t be the beautiful spaces they are without the gardens and baskets that add a pop of colour to greenspaces across the community.

The bursts of colour in our parks are quite literally months in the making. Long before plants bloom, the City of Sarnia’s horticulture team is hard at work preparing and planting gardens in parks, along streets, and in public spaces. Many of the plants are grown in-house over the winter months, from cuttings taken from last year’s gardens that are carefully nurtured in our greenhouse.

It’s work that reduces costs while delivering vibrant results.

The City plants and maintains 73 planters, 161 hanging baskets, and more than 25,000 square metres of garden beds across the city; helping create welcoming, vibrant spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.
