We have been growing Bietina Chard since the 1990's.
This family heirloom from Italy , is one of our favourites. In colder locations, try overwintering with some protection, like a cloche or greenhouse. Straw mulch overwinter for continuous winter production. It is a perennial in Zone 8 and 9. Fresh seed now available. Mild taste without the oxalic acid tang !!
Beta vulgaris - Another exclusive, this rare leafy green originates in Italy. We like to call it the Italian Swiss Chard. The leaves are tender, a medium green colour with smooth edges. It is noted that the oxalic acid content is lower, which gives that metallic tang to other chards and beet greens....
