Back in July, I joined the Minister of Water, Lands and Parks, MP Mel Arnold, and local farmers on a tour of the Salmon River watershed to talk about the water restrictions hitting our ranchers and growers.
A good follow-up piece in the Observer this week lays out some of the solutions being discussed β from small water storage reservoirs to a community irrigation system that could double capacity for farms north of Silver Creek. Over 800 farmers in this watershed produce more than $180 million in agricultural products, so getting this right matters.
No decisions yet, but I'll keep pushing for real solutions that work for both fish and farms.
