Users of the Sorrento Water System are advised that a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY has been lifted effective 10:30 AM on Friday, May 22, 2026.

🔷 Water testing confirms the water from the Sorrento Water System is now safe to consume directly from the tap.

The CSRD thanks water users for their patience and attention during the watermain flushing process.

🚨 Please note: The Cedar Heights Water System still has a BOIL WATER NOTICE in place until testing can confirm the water is safe to consume. Continue to take precautions if you are a water user on this system.

Attention Scotch Creek Residents!

Interior Health is advising all private well users to take precautions after a large diesel spill occurred at a local gas station on May 5th around 7:30 p.m.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact Interior Health directly.

We are advising Scotch Creek private well users to take precautions following a large diesel spill that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. May 5 at a local gas station.

We are recommending individuals who rely on private wells for drinking water to monitor their water for possible impacts. Diesel fuel has a very distinct odour and can be detected at very low concentrations in drinking water.

This would include dwellings south of and including:
🔹Butters Road
🔹Saratoga Road
🔹Kenwood Gate

If you notice any fuel odour or visible fuel (oily sheen - rainbow-colored film), use an alternate water source for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, food preparation and bathing.

This is a precautionary measure, to the more than 200 private well users in the area, based on current information. We understand this may be concerning and will continue to closely monitor this situation in consultation with the Ministry of Environment and Parks. We will provide updates as more information is available.

Community doesn’t just mean where you live.

A community can take many forms, including neighbours, faith groups or people with shared hobbies.

Building strong community connections before an emergency makes it easier to support one another when it matters most.

Start by reaching out, saying hi, and suggesting a conversation about shared preparedness ✔️

Talk about local risks. Discuss the hazards in your area and identify people who may need extra support in an emergency ✔️

Assign responsibilities for an emergency response, such as first aid, cleanup or checking on vulnerable individuals ✔️

During an emergency, the most immediate help comes from those around you.

This Emergency Preparedness Week, connect and build relationships in your community.

Here are a few ideas:

Reach out: Say hi, introduce yourself, or drop off cookies or a greeting card ✔️

Look out: Check in with neighbours or community members after severe weather events or local emergencies ✔️

Help out: Little actions go a long way. Chat with someone who lives alone, share supplies during a power outage or help an elder clear their driveway after a snowfall ✔️

🚨 Attention Water users on the Cedar Heights and Sorrento Water Systems in Electoral Area G 🚨

On Wednesday, May 6 at 8 AM:
🔷 The Cedar Heights Water System is being placed on a Boil Water Notice. This affects ALL users on the water system.
🔷 The Sorrento Water System is being placed on a Water Quality Advisory. This affects anyone on the system with a weakened immune system or those who want to take extra precautions.

What you should do if you are affected:

👉 All water used for drinking, food preparation, brushing teeth, or washing dishes must be boiled for at least one minute.
👉 Alternatively, residents may choose to use another safe water source, such as bottled water.
