The Mt. Baldy and Scotch Creek–Hlina trails are officially open again after extensive restoration following the 2023 Bush Creek East Wildfire.

Thanks to Disaster Financial Assistance from the Province of BC and the dedicated work of the Shuswap Trail Alliance, these beloved trails have been rebuilt.

Restoration included danger tree removal, trail reroutes, new signs, bridges, and boardwalks, plus a landslide assessment at Mt. Baldy to ensure your safety.

🔹Please note: Mt. Baldy has a heightened debris-flow risk, review the map and info at the trailhead before you set out, and follow all posted notices.
🔹As always please stay on designated routes, and use extra caution in wildfire-affected areas.

🔷 This means wait times at the site will be longer than usual.

🛝Get ready to play in Sorrento-Blind Bay!

➡️Following a successful public engagment campaign to hear what the community wanted for the Sorrento-Blind Bay Community Park Playground, the CSRD has engaged a contractor, Parkworks, to bring the vision to life.

✅ Sorrento-Blind Bay Community Park will see the addition of shade sails next to the spray park, a swing set, spining structure, a double tower with unique pole-vaulting equipment, spinner bowl, sensory multi-play panel, rattle roller wheel, a custom mini dome climber and a stepping pod.

✅ Design plans are now completed and meet the project budget targets. The project has now progressed to ordering the equipment. This will take approximately 8-10 weeks for delivery.

Equipment installation will be weather dependent, with hopes of getting started in late fall or winter. If the weather doesn't cooperate, installation will start in spring 2027.

🛝Plans are in place for a new and improved play experience at Sunnybrae Community Park!

➡️ Following a successful public engagment campaign to hear what the community wanted for the Sunnybrae Playground, the CSRD has engaged a contractor, Parkworks, to bring the vision to life.

In the first phase, Sunnybrae Park will receive custom shade sails to enhance the park and beach experience, a sensory multi-play panel, a custom swing, new climbers, spinner and a meadow trail. A water mister play area will be installed in the second phase of improvements. 💦

✅ Design plans are now completed and meet the project budget targets. The project has now progressed to ordering the equipment. This will take approximately 8-10 weeks for delivery.

Equipment installation will be weather dependent, with hopes of getting started in late fall or winter. If the weather doesn't cooperate, installation will start in spring 2027.

Get ready to play! 🛝
👉 Following a successful public engagment campaign to hear what the community wanted for the Cedar Heights Playground, the CSRD has engaged a contractor, Parkworks, to bring the vision to life.

➡️ A modular pump track will be installed at Cedar Heights, which will also include a custom swing set, in-ground explorer dome, a Spica (curved rotating pole), double tower zipline with cliff rider, a spinner bowl, a sensory multi-play panel, rattle roller wheel, stepping pod, overhead ladder and more.

✅ The existing shade structure will remain to provide comfort during the hot summer days.

Design plans are now completed and meet the project budget targets. The project has now progressed to ordering the equipment. This will take approximately 8-10 weeks for delivery.

Equipment installation will be weather dependent, with hopes of getting started in late fall or winter. If the weather doesn't cooperate, installation will start in spring 2027.

🌱 FREE YARD WASTE DISPOSAL 🌱
Get your yard ready for the season, at no cost! From September 5 – October 18, 2026 (Fall Cleanup) you can drop off yard and garden waste for FREE at all CSRD Landfill and Transfer Station locations.

Plus, some municipalities offer free curbside collection for yard and garden waste.
Check your local government’s website for details.

New rates for using the Sicamous and District Recreation Centre are now in effect. This is the first time fees have been changed since 2022.

The Board adopted the new fee bylaw that:
✅ Balances affordability for user groups
✅ Is in line with fees at other arenas and recreation facilities in the region
✅ Considers the long-term financial sustainability of the facility
✅ Gives special consideration to rates that will help increase the use of the facility by the community.
