📣 **Reminder: Bastion PAC Annual General Meeting – Monday, June 1st at 6:30 PM** 📣

Parents and guardians are invited to join us for the Bastion PAC Annual General Meeting on **Monday, June 1st at 6:30 PM in the Music Room**.

The AGM is an opportunity to hear about PAC activities over the past year, review reports, elect next year's PAC Executive, and learn how you can get involved in supporting our school community.

✅ **Babysitting will be available during the meeting.**

As we prepare for a new school year, we would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our dedicated PAC Executive members whose terms are coming to an end. Most of our PAC Executives will be stepping back from their roles for the 2026-2027 school year.

💙 **Julie Dytynyshyn**, Vice President/Co-Chair, for her leadership and support over the past year. Her willingness to step up, lend a hand wherever needed, and support PAC initiatives has been greatly appreciated.

💙 Melodie Smith, Treasurer, for three years of dedicated service in this role. Even during a one-year hiatus from the Executive, Melodie remained actively involved and continued to support PAC initiatives and activities. Her financial stewardship, commitment to transparency, and ongoing willingness to help have been greatly valued by both the PAC and the school community.

💙 **Lorraine Bose**, Fundraising Coordinator, for two years of dedication to supporting PAC initiatives and fundraising efforts. Lorraine's hard work behind the scenes has helped make all of our fundraising activities successful. Her commitment and attention to detail have contributed directly to opportunities and enhancements that benefit Bastion students.

💙 **Larissa Image**, Secretary, for three years of service and commitment to keeping our PAC organized and informed. Larissa's careful record keeping, reliability, and dedication have been invaluable to the smooth operation of our PAC. Her contributions have helped ensure that important information and decisions are documented and shared with our school community.

💙 **Katy McCallum**, Fun Food Coordinator, for five years of organizing and managing this valuable program for our school community. Katy has dedicated countless hours to coordinating orders, organizing volunteers, and ensuring students enjoy fun food days throughout the year. Her commitment and consistency have made this program a tremendous success and a valued part of school life for many families.

💙 **Sylvia Meikle**, President/Chair, for eight years of service as a PAC Executive member, including the past five years as President. Sylvia's leadership, commitment, and countless volunteer hours have helped strengthen our school community and support many initiatives that have benefited Bastion students. Her dedication to advocating for students, parents and fostering strong partnerships between families, staff, and administration has left a lasting impact on Bastion Elementary.

On behalf of the Bastion school community, thank you to each of these volunteers for the time, energy, and care you have given over the years. Your contributions have helped make our school a stronger, more connected, and supportive place for students and families.

We hope to see some new faces at the AGM as we celebrate another successful year and look ahead to the future of Bastion PAC.

The excitement is building for the Bastion Carnival tomorrow! The Bastion School Community has shown remarkable generosity with their donations, making the classroom baskets truly outstanding. The classes have demonstrated great creativity in putting the baskets together. We’re sure there will be some great bids put on these baskets.

Tonight, Julie D, her daughter Brielle, Melodie S, Melissa C, and Sylvia M spent a couple of hours organizing and wrapping the basket items. Lorraine B, the Chief Organizer of the Carnival, was also hard at work behind the scenes, ensuring that everything was in place for tonight.

Hello Bastion Community,

Carnival is only a few days away, and PAC is busy getting prepared.

If you wish to donate any items for the Silent Auction or have items to place in the Classroom Baskets please ensure they are dropped off at the school on Thursday to allow our volunteers to organize them in the evening.

We are looking for a few more volunteers for some key activities
Most importantly we require 3 volunteers in the gym at all times to allow the Bouncy Houses to stay open all evening.
We need Bingo volunteers to ensure one of the most popular activities of the evening is available.
Facepainters are required to help paint faces of many excited children

Please take a moment to review the volunteer spaces still available to ensure we can provide a full night of fun for the children.

Thank you to all those who have volunteered already, and those of you who sign up in the next couple of days.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Carnival!

Hello Bastion Community,

As the weather warms up, we are starting to think of summertime and the new school year ahead.

The Bastion PAC is asking members of the community to come out and volunteer with the PAC for next year.

Multiple members of the PAC will be moving on this year, following their children to the next school. In 2027-2028 there will be NO remaining current members of PAC at Bastion.

At a minimum, the PAC must have a Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer to continue. We encourage individuals to commit as additional members of the PAC to support various activities.
Without the minimum of 3 members, the Bastion PAC will have to be dissolved.

No PAC will mean:
No Fun Food Lunches
No Fundraisers (Holiday Greens, Best Seats in the House, Purdy's, etc.)
No Carnival
No School Movie Nights
No School Dance

IMPORTANT FUNDING INFORMATION
Bastion Elementary will lose more than $14,000 in funds if PAC dissolves.
Bastion Elementary will lose access to the BC Gaming Grant if the PAC is dissolved. This is a $7000 grant provided to all active PACs each school year.
Additionally, when a new PAC is established, it takes 1-2 years to obtain the grant again, meaning a loss of $14-$21K in funding that goes directly to Bastion Students

The funds raised by Bastion PAC support: Multiple field trips; teacher requests and classroom set-up; recess equipment, including balls & sleds; the choir program & classroom sound systems.
Bastion PAC focuses on connecting the community through events such as Movie nights, Dances and Carnival. Finally, the Bastion PAC provides a recognized voice for the parents to reach out to the District, School Board and wider community when required

Current PAC Executives are all willing to assist the incoming PAC through the upcoming year. We look forward to new members bringing new ideas and preparing Bastion for the years ahead.

For inquiries or to express your interest, all are welcome to nominate themselves or recommend others for PAC Executive roles.
Executive roles will be voted on during our PAC AGM in June - time and date TBA. New Nominees must attend the June 1st meeting to be voted in.
Please submit nominations by Monday, May 25, 2026, to Principal Gobbett at [email protected]. A voting meeting will take place on June 1st at 6:30 pm in the music room.

Questions can be sent to [email protected]. ALSO ATTACHED is a document with more detailed information on PAC positions. Our last meeting of the school year will be June 1, 2026 at which time votes will take place.

We look forward to seeing you in June!

Volunteers Requires for Carnival

Our amazing PAC is bringing to the Bastion community the Bastion Spring Carnival on Friday, May 22nd.

It is vital to note that this event is COMPLETELY volunteer run, and it really take many hands to support such an endeavour. Please consider giving a small amount of time to pull this wonderful community-building event together.

The committee is already working hard. It is important to note that if we do not have enough volunteers at a week before the event, we may have to cancel it.
