Hello JRC Families,

Please see the message below from the City of St. Thomas.

In order keep kids and parents safe from construction traffic the City has asked that parents avoid Woodworth Ave north of Edward as a drop off zone. Construction barrels will be placed in this area to discourage its use. Safety is our number one priority.

Hello JRC Families,

The City of St. Thomas has announced that a Crossing Guard will be posted at the intersection of Edward St. and Balaclava Street. The Crossing Guard will be posted at the intersection at the following times:

8:25 am - 9:05 am

3:15 pm - 3:55 pm

REMINDER FOR DRIVERS
When a school crossing guard displays their stop sign, drivers and cyclists are required by law to stop and remain stopped until all pedestrians and the crossing guard have completely cleared the roadway and it is safe to proceed. Drivers should approach school crossing locations with caution, reduce their speed, remain alert for children, and obey the crossing guard's stop sign. This is a legal requirement under Section 176
of Ontario's Highway Traffic Act. Failing to obey a school crossing guard's stop sign may result in fines and demerit points.

Welcome Back!

Dear JRC Families,

Welcome back. Our staff spent the summer preparing for a strong start, and we are ready to make this a great year for every Cobra.

Here is what you need to know for the first day and beyond.

Daily Schedule

Supervision on the yard starts at 8:55 am.
School starts at 9:10 am. (New this year)
School ends at 3:30 pm.
Students have two 40 minute nutrition breaks during the day.
Bus Students

Check your pickup and drop off times before the first day. Times may shift slightly from last year.

First Day Meeting Spots

JK and SK students go directly to the backyard.
Grades 1 to 3 meet on the front yard.
Grades 4 to 8 meet on the J/I yard.
Staff will wear vests and carry class lists. They will direct your child to their teacher for the year.

Classroom Placements

We are not making classroom moves this year unless we need to rebalance classes at the end of September.

Lunch

Students stay on school premises during lunch. A parent or guardian must pick up a student who needs to leave.

More Information Coming

During the first week, we will send details on schedules, assemblies, technology use, cell phones, the code of conduct, and lunch permissions.

Thank you for trusting us with your child's education. We are excited to welcome your family back and start the year together.

Early Pickup

If you are planning on picking up your child early, please call the main office, or use SchoolMessenger. When you arrive at the school we will call your child down to the office to sign them out in our system. After 3pm we will not be able to call students down to the office for early dismissal without being notified earlier in the day. Thank you for your understanding.
