Today, the County Agricultural Service Board's Chairman and Vice Chairman, along with STEP's Economic Development Officer, had the opportunity to meet with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) to discuss strategies assisting in the attraction and retention of veterinarians to the St. Paul region. Thank you to ABVMA for taking time from their northeastern tour to meet with the ASB and STEP!

An additional thank you to ABVMA for choosing St. Paul to host their Council Northern Regional meeting. We look forward to future conversations and collaboration for the region!

The County’s Spring Beaver Reduction Incentive Program is open for a couple more weeks, closing for the season on June 30.

To receive the $15 per beaver, applicants must bring whole, untouched beaver tails to the Public Works Shop (5618 57 Street, St. Paul) by appointment and inform our Agriculture Services department of the location of the cull. Beaver tails brought in without an appointment will not be accepted.

Are you a local producer who works closely with regional veterinarians? If yes, please share your feedback in this short, 10-question survey by June 30!

At this year's ASB Provincial Conference, there was a question from a neighbouring municipality about the inclusion of veterinarians in the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness Program. As a result, a survey is being circulated to collect producer perspectives on the economic value of veterinary access in rural areas. This data will help to support advocacy efforts at the federal level.

The anonymous survey is open until June 30. Thanks for your support!

This survey is intended to gather input from Alberta farmers and ranchers on the importance of veterinary services to agricultural productivity, animal health, and business viability. Results may  be used to support advocacy efforts to the Government of Canada for the inclusion of veterinarians...

The County of St. Paul Council will be gathering this morning, June 9, for the Council Meeting starting at 10 a.m.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting in person at the County Administration Building in the Council Chambers. If unable to attend in person, the meetings will be live-streamed through the County's YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/.paulno.1987

As per Meeting Procedure Bylaw 2025-14, a recording of the Council meeting will be available on the County's YouTube channel for 72 hours.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, tomorrow (June 6), the Vincent Lake Transfer Station will close early. Waste will be accepted at the station from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Other stations will be open for regular summer hours, with the closest ones being Mallaig or Town of St. Paul. Public bin sites are also available, if needed, which you can find on our website: https://www.county.stpaul.ab.ca/waste-management/
