Public Notice – Water Level Monitoring

UPDATE:
The two rivers seem to holding steady and not be rising anymore, that is a good sign, but we’re not out of the woods. Any substantial rain north or west could very quickly change matters. We will continue to monitor.

The St. Lazare Fire Department is currently monitoring and measuring water levels in the area as conditions continue to change.

At this time, there is no immediate cause for concern. However, our team remains prepared and ready to respond if needed.

If you require assistance protecting your home, or if you have any concerns about rising water levels, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

We are here to help and will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure everyone’s safety.

Stay safe and take care

It is with utter disbelief that we share the news of the destruction of our beloved Quad Cabin, which was sadly burned to the ground as the result of an apparent arson.

This cabin was a gathering place for many — riders, families, and friends enjoying quads, side-by-sides, and snowmobiles. It held countless good times and fond memories for many families and was built and maintained through hard work by people who cared deeply about making it a welcoming part of our beautiful valley.

In a matter of moments, that effort and those memories were taken away for reasons still unknown. This loss is deeply felt across our community.

If anyone has information related to this incident, we strongly encourage you to contact Crime Stoppers or local authorities. Anonymous tips can make a difference.

This senseless act has impacted far more than a building — it has impacted a community

Last weekend we had an excellent training opportunity to demolish an old house by fire. Thank you to Inland seeds. Chances like this don’t come by often, it was great to have a quiet calm scene where we could watch fire behaviour in a controlled environment. 🚒

Well that’s a wrap! This weekend we joined up with fire fighters from our Mutual Aid District including Birtle, Russell & Shoal Lake. It was a great learning experience for all, and wonderful to have these resources available to us through the Manitoba Emergency Services College. Everyone took away some new and sharpened skills to help our home departments. Thank you to all the volunteers that dedicated a weekend to help strengthen our communities.
