*GST*
Hi everyone! My name is Tara, sign name Tara, and I'm here with a vlog about the GST payment.
Many people have been asking questions about the GST money they received on June 5, especially because the amount was higher than expected or lower than expected. Let me help clear things up.
For example, a single adult who earns around $25,000 per year may receive approximately $267. If you earn more than that, your GST amount may be lower.
A family of four may receive approximately $533.
Why did we get paid on June 5? It's because there was a one-time top-up payment that the government owed eligible recipients. From now on, future payments will return to the normal amount.
Starting July 3, the GST credit will be renamed the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit. That will be the new name going forward.
I've had a few people ask me about information they've seen on Facebook or heard from others. Some people are saying that families will receive $900 to $1,000 every payment. Let me clear that up.
For example, if a family of four receives about $1,800 for the entire year, that amount is divided into four payments: January, April, July, and October. It is not $1,800 every month. The same idea applies to single individuals as well.
Another important thing to know is that July marks the start of a new benefit year. If you filed your taxes, you can receive the July payment. If you did not file your taxes, you will not receive the benefit.
I hope this video helps clear everything up. If you still have questions, please let me know in the comments.
Thank you for watching. Bye!
