🥵 HEAT WARNING FOR OUR AREA 🥵
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the next 2 days, with daytime temperatures reaching 35°C and overnight lows only dropping to around 18°C.
Hot weather like this can quickly become dangerous — especially for seniors, young children, outdoor workers, pets, and those with health conditions.
Here are a few reminders to help keep everyone safe:
☀️ Drink plenty of water — even if you don’t feel thirsty
☀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
☀️ Never leave children or pets in vehicles — not even for a minute
☀️ Check on neighbours, family members, and vulnerable friends
☀️ Wear light clothing and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
☀️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke:
dizziness
headache
nausea
confusion
excessive sweating or lack of sweating
🚜 Farmers and equipment operators:
Dry conditions and extreme heat increase fire risk. Please ensure machinery is clean and well maintained, and keep an eye out for sparks or hot bearings while working in the field.
🔥 We want everyone to stay safe and avoid preventable emergencies during this heat event.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.
