🥵 HEAT WARNING FOR OUR AREA 🥵

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the next 2 days, with daytime temperatures reaching 35°C and overnight lows only dropping to around 18°C.

Hot weather like this can quickly become dangerous — especially for seniors, young children, outdoor workers, pets, and those with health conditions.

Here are a few reminders to help keep everyone safe:

☀️ Drink plenty of water — even if you don’t feel thirsty
☀️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day
☀️ Never leave children or pets in vehicles — not even for a minute
☀️ Check on neighbours, family members, and vulnerable friends
☀️ Wear light clothing and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
☀️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke:

dizziness
headache
nausea
confusion
excessive sweating or lack of sweating

🚜 Farmers and equipment operators:
Dry conditions and extreme heat increase fire risk. Please ensure machinery is clean and well maintained, and keep an eye out for sparks or hot bearings while working in the field.

🔥 We want everyone to stay safe and avoid preventable emergencies during this heat event.

Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another.

🚑 Paramedic Services Week | May 17–23, 2026 🚑

This week, Rosthern Fire and Rescue would like to recognize and thank all paramedics, EMS personnel, emergency dispatchers, and first responders who answer the call — day or night, rain or shine.

The 2026 theme, “Improving Outcomes Together,” highlights something we see firsthand every day: emergency response is truly a team effort. From dispatchers calmly guiding callers through emergencies, to paramedics providing lifesaving care on scene and during transport, every role matters.

We are proud to work alongside dedicated EMS professionals in Rosthern who bring compassion, skill, and professionalism to some of the toughest moments people will ever face. Their calm under pressure and commitment to patient care make a difference in our communities every single day.

To all paramedics and emergency medical personnel:
Thank you for the long hours, the difficult calls, the sacrifices made away from your families, and the care you provide when people need it most.

Please join us in showing appreciation for these incredible professionals during Paramedic Services Week. 💙🚑

This week Rosthern Fire and Rescue trained with their new rescue air bags by practicing lifting a vehicle in a simulated rescue scenario. Members worked together to safely stabilize and lift the car while building confidence and strengthening their rescue skills during hands-on training. Thanks to Transcare Rescue for coming out to instruct and guide us

As we wrap up 2025, we’d like to take a moment to reflect and say thank you.

This year, Rosthern Fire and Rescue responded to 120 calls, serving our community when it mattered most. It was also a year of change and growth within the hall, with new members joining our ranks, internal promotions, and the appointment of a new Fire Chief. These changes have continued to strengthen our department and set us up well for the future.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our community, families, and partners. Your encouragement, trust, and generosity mean more than we can put into words.

Thank you for standing behind your fire and rescue members —we’re proud to serve you and surrounding areas
