Beginning tomorrow, work will get underway on Muskeg Ave Trail (south of 67 Ave, between 60 Street and Highway 11) as part of the Town’s 2026 capital budget.

What to expect during this phase:
🚫 Trail closure: This section of the trail will be closed for the duration of the work.
🚜 Increased activity: Equipment and crews will be moving in and out of the area.
🔊 Noise & dust: Residents can expect loud noises and some airborne sawdust/dust during tree removal.

This phase of work involves removing aging and diseased poplar trees and grinding out stumps. These trees have reached the end of their lifespan and have caused significant trail damage due to invasive root systems, creating safety concerns for trail users.

We understand this work may be disruptive and appreciate your patience as we improve the safety and longevity of the trail.

✅ What’s next?
Spot repairs to the most hazardous areas of the trail are planned for later this summer and fall. Trees such as spruce, tamarack, and memorial plantings will remain, and removing the poplars will help these species continue to grow and thrive.

Thank you for your cooperation as we complete this work!
