We had an amazing FIFA Day in Grade 5/6 French Immersion today! ⚽🌎

Students took part in a variety of World Cup-themed activities, including: “Fun facts” worksheets and a country word search, a soccer jersey design contest, a friendly soccer tournament, Flag bingo and we wrapped up our day by watching Team Canada play their first match of the tournament. 🇨🇦

It was a fun mix of learning, creativity, teamwork, and soccer excitement. Here are a few pictures from our day!

🐠🌊 While the weather heats up outside (and in our classroom!), our Grade 1 artists are staying cool by diving into an underwater adventure. Using mixed media techniques, students imagined themselves snorkeling and scuba diving among colourful fish, coral reefs, and ocean creatures. We love seeing their creativity make a splash! 🎨🐟

We are proud to share that RKPS received a Trustee Creativity and Innovation Award at last night’s UCDSB Awards Celebration. This award recognizes the incredible student leadership happening across our school—from Reading Buddies and Tech Coaches to our Snack Program, Kindergarten Helpers, and all of our student‑led fundraising and community initiatives.

This achievement reflects the hard work of our staff and students working together every day to build confidence, responsibility, and leadership.

Congratulations to our entire RKPS team. Stop by the office to see the beautiful trophy we received! Trophy 🏆💙

Rockland Public School Staff

At Rockland Public School, students are given meaningful opportunities to lead and make a difference through initiatives such as Reading Buddies, EQAO Tech Coaches, the Snack Program, and Kindergarten Helpers. Beyond the classroom, student-led efforts like Character Always Assemblies, fundraising for stray cats, Champions for Kids, the Terry Fox Foundation, and Jump Rope for Heart reflect a school culture where leadership is lived every day.

What stands out most is that this is a collective effort—staff and students working together with a shared commitment to building confidence, responsibility, and voice in young learners. At Rockland Public School, leadership is not an add-on, it is embedded in the culture of the school.

Our Grade 4 and 5 students had an exciting and memorable end-of-year learning experience last week as we welcomed the University of Ottawa Engineering Outreach Team to RKPS!

Throughout the day, students explored the world of engineering and technology by learning how to code and control RVR cars and robots. They worked together to solve problems, test their ideas, and think like real engineers.

One of the biggest lessons from the day was learning the importance of being flexible when things don't go according to plan. Just like engineers, students discovered that setbacks and challenges are often part of the learning process. They showed perseverance, creativity, and a positive attitude as they adapted and found solutions.
To top off an amazing experience, every student received a 3D-printed Minecraft item to take home as a special souvenir from the day!

A huge thank you to the University of Ottawa Engineering Program for bringing this incredible hands-on learning opportunity to our school. Kudos to Ms. Crankshaw for organizing this opportunity. Our students had a fantastic time and left feeling inspired by the possibilities of science, technology, engineering, and coding. 🧠 🧪

Mme Norton and Ms. Western’s classes had a glorious day at Forest School! 🌿☀️ Students loved every moment of learning in nature — exploring, discovering, and connecting with the outdoors. Outdoor education plays a powerful role in building confidence, curiosity, and well‑being, and today was a perfect example of that. Huge thanks to outdoor education funding for making this opportunity possible.
