Did you know that on an average day, Riverview uses approximately 8 million litres of water? 💦

During the summer months, water consumption can increase significantly, putting additional strain on our water distribution system. The Town's Water & Sewer By-Law was implemented to help reduce water consumption during peak time of day demands and limit usage to lessen the strain on our water system.

Please be mindful of these water conservation practices during the summer months:
💧 Only use your outdoor water hose on odd-number calendar days if you live at an odd-numbered residence (and an even number if you live at an even-numbered residence)
🌱 Limit watering of gardens and lawns to before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. (this helps minimize the amount of evaporation)
🕐 Limit outdoor water use to one hour at a time for a maximum of 2 hours within 24 hours
🌧️ Do not water your lawn or garden when it is raining
💦 Explore other ways to water (not connected to the municipal water supply) — using rain water collected in buckets, barrels, or cans.

These practices are in effect from May 1 to September 30 every year and help water pressure levels to remain steady for everyone, allowing adequate amounts of water to be available for all purposes.

Kassidy Vesters, a Town of Riverview summer student, is documenting her very first garden season from the ground up. Seed libraries. Companion planting. Aphids. Compost. All of it.

Her biggest lesson so far? You don't need experience - you just need curiosity.

Monday marked an important milestone for Riverview as it was the first full Regular Council Meeting of the new term. Council hit the ground running with several items on the agenda:

Council authorized a transfer of $29,230.68 from the General Operating Fund to the Parkland Reserve Fund, fulfilling a subdivision requirement related to the West Riverview Subdivision Plan.

Council also authorized a planned temporary leave for Councillor Glenn Miller from June 9 to September 7, 2026. He remains reachable by phone and email with limited availability.

A lease agreement with Rogers Communications Inc. was approved for telecommunications equipment on Town property.

Council received an investigation report from the previous term and determined that Councillor Cassista breached the Code of Conduct By-Law. Corrective action includes social media training for Councillor Cassista and all of Council, and a public written apology to the complainants.

Due to confidentiality requirements under the Town's Code of Conduct By-Law and applicable privacy legislation, the Town is not in a position to address questions beyond the publicly available in the Executive Summary report. Please keep all comments respectful.

Next Meeting: Committee of the Whole is Monday, June 22, 2026, at 7 p.m., live streamed at townofriverview.ca.
