Did you know that on an average day, Riverview uses approximately 8 million litres of water? 💦
During the summer months, water consumption can increase significantly, putting additional strain on our water distribution system. The Town's Water & Sewer By-Law was implemented to help reduce water consumption during peak time of day demands and limit usage to lessen the strain on our water system.
Please be mindful of these water conservation practices during the summer months:
💧 Only use your outdoor water hose on odd-number calendar days if you live at an odd-numbered residence (and an even number if you live at an even-numbered residence)
🌱 Limit watering of gardens and lawns to before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. (this helps minimize the amount of evaporation)
🕐 Limit outdoor water use to one hour at a time for a maximum of 2 hours within 24 hours
🌧️ Do not water your lawn or garden when it is raining
💦 Explore other ways to water (not connected to the municipal water supply) — using rain water collected in buckets, barrels, or cans.
These practices are in effect from May 1 to September 30 every year and help water pressure levels to remain steady for everyone, allowing adequate amounts of water to be available for all purposes.
