In just a few days, Life Flight International Inc. will proudly celebrate 37 years of service.
What began as one critical-care nurse’s vision has grown into one of Canada’s longest-operating air ambulance companies—helping patients and families across more than 175 countries.
For 37 years, our family, flight crews, medical professionals and trusted partners have worked together with one purpose: to bring people safely home when they need us most.
We have crossed oceans, navigated extraordinary challenges and adapted to enormous changes in medicine and aviation. Through it all, the values my mother, Isabel Connor, built this company upon have never changed:

Trusted. Experienced. Compassionate.
To every patient, family, employee, medical professional, aviation partner and assistance company that has placed their trust in Life Flight International—thank you.

Thirty-seven years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy, and we are incredibly proud that the mission continues.

Here’s to the next chapter. ✈️

At Life Flight International, we are always on the move—but we don’t need to tell everyone what we’re doing every day.

We didn’t become Canada’s oldest operating air ambulance company by constantly talking about ourselves. We earned that distinction by quietly doing the job, delivering exceptional care and being there when people need us most.

Trusted. Experienced. Compassionate.
That’s all you need to know.

RIP Johnny , 1 of America's greatest EMS ambassadors!@

Yesterday the EMS community lost more than an actor. We lost a man whose work inspired generations of firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics.

Rest in peace, Randolph Mantooth—forever known to millions as Firefighter-Paramedic John Gage from Emergency!.

For those outside our profession, Emergency! was just another television show. But for those of us who answer 911 calls, it was something much bigger.

When Emergency! premiered in 1972, organized paramedic systems were still in their infancy. Across much of America, advanced prehospital care simply didn’t exist. Ambulances were often little more than transportation, and lifesaving interventions were reserved for the hospital.

Emergency! changed that.

Working closely with medical experts, including Dr. James O. Page and Dr. Walter Graf, the show’s producers made a deliberate effort to portray paramedicine accurately. Week after week, viewers watched Johnny Gage and Roy DeSoto bring advanced medical care directly to their patients. Millions of Americans saw CPR, cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, airway management, trauma care, and the concept of specially trained paramedics for the very first time.

The show’s popularity did more than entertain—it educated. It sparked conversations in city halls, fire departments, and state legislatures. Communities began asking, “Why don’t we have paramedics like Johnny and Roy?” Many leaders have credited Emergency! with helping build public support for creating and expanding EMS systems throughout the United States.

Its influence reached beyond the public. Countless EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, nurses, and physicians can trace their career choice back to sitting in front of a television, watching Station 51 answer another call.

Every time we climb into an ambulance, start an IV, interpret an ECG, calm a frightened patient, or work alongside our brothers and sisters in the fire service, we are part of a profession that Emergency! helped bring into America’s living rooms.

Randolph Mantooth didn’t just play a paramedic. He became one of EMS’s greatest ambassadors, spending decades supporting first responders, attending EMS conferences, advocating for firefighter health and safety, and never forgetting the community that embraced him.

His legacy isn’t measured in television ratings.

It’s measured in the lives saved by the men and women he inspired to dedicate themselves to this profession.

Thank you, Randolph, for giving us Johnny Gage.

Thank you for helping America believe in paramedics.

And thank you for inspiring generations of us to answer the call.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here. 🚑🚒

After three conferences, countless meetings, enough airport coffee to fuel a small airline, and more hotel room nights than I'd like to admit, it's good to finally sit down and reflect on what makes this industry so unique.
The truth is, air ambulance and assistance work isn't really about airplanes, contracts, or spreadsheets. It's about people.
Over the past few months, I've had the opportunity to reconnect with clients I've worked with for decades, meet new industry professionals, and strengthen relationships that help ensure patients receive the care they need when they need it most.
One thing I've learned after 35+ years in this business is that relationships matter. When a patient is sitting in a hospital bed thousands of miles from home, the trust built between providers, assistance companies, insurers, hospitals, and transport teams is what makes the impossible happen.
At Life Flight International, we've never tried to be the biggest. We've simply worked every day to be dependable, to answer the phone, to solve problems, and to put patient care ahead of everything else.
As the oldest operating air ambulance company in Canada, it has been rewarding to see our industry continue to evolve while still being built on the same foundation: good people helping people.
To everyone I had the pleasure of seeing at THIA, USTIA, and ITIC Americas—thank you for the conversations, the laughs, the ideas, and yes, for helping me keep the Life Flight International chapstick tradition alive. Congratulations as well to the lucky winners of our JBL "Golden Ticket" giveaway. I hope the flights home were just a little quieter!
Now it's time to get back to doing what we do best: moving patients safely around the world.
Safe travels, everyone.

I'm here! 🍹🇲🇽

Apparently, this is what "networking" looks like at ITIC Americas 2026 in Puerto Vallarta.

I came to discuss air ambulance operations, international assistance, medical transport, and build new partnerships for Life Flight International.....and somehow ended up in a sombrero holding a suspiciously large beverage. 🤷‍♂️

If you see me wandering around the conference, feel free to say hello. Whether you're looking to talk medevac solutions, assistance services, aviation partnerships, or just want to debate whether this hat meets aviation safety standards, I'm always happy to connect.

Looking forward to catching up with old friends, meeting new colleagues, and proving that serious business conversations can still happen while dressed like a tourist.

See you at ITIC Americas!

For 36 years, Life Flight International has had the privilege of attending conferences all over the world. Of course we attend the sessions, learn, and stay current with our industry… but for us, the true value has always been something much bigger.
It’s the people.
The friendships built over coffee in the lobby, the conversations after dinner, the laughs during morning runs, and the relationships formed outside the conference rooms that truly matter. Those connections often last a lifetime — far beyond business itself.
We are incredibly fortunate to be part of an industry filled with such dedicated, passionate, and genuine people. Those relationships create real value, not just in business, but in life. They are what keep us motivated every day.
Never forget… sometimes the most important part of a conference starts when the session ends.
Here’s to great people, great partnerships, and even greater friendships.

As most of you know, the President of Life Flight International tends to be a little shy and doesn’t like talking about the many accomplishments of Life Flight International Inc. over the past 35+ years… so I guess I’ll have to do it for him.

Life Flight International is proud to be attending the THIA 2026 Conference in Ottawa. As Canada’s oldest operating air ambulance company, we continue to focus on what has mattered since day one: uncompromising safety, exceptional patient care, and professional partnerships built on trust and integrity.
We are always looking to build strong relationships with quality partners who value experience, communication, and doing things the right way — not the easy way.
If you’re interested in working with a company that has transported thousands of patients worldwide with a safety-first mindset for over three decades, come see me in Ottawa.

If you’re a bad partner… you can probably save yourself the walk over.
