In a nation of nearly 1.3 billion people — where over a billion have never had regular access to the Gospel — FEBC India has been on the air since the 1950s, meeting people in the language of their heart. In 1958, this hillside church in Laos had no pastor of its own.

Sunday after Sunday, the encouragement that held this Hmong congregation together came through a shortwave radio. FEBC's earliest broadcasts here were in Lao — produced alongside the Christian & Missionary Alliance, whose workers made the long trip out to these tribal villages as people first began responding to what they heard.

And from one of these very villages came FEBC's first Hmong-language broadcaster. His programs would go on to help spark a revival that reached at least 250,000 people.

It started with a radio on a mountainside.

Eighty years later, that's still how the Gospel reaches the hardest places.

Ms. Lim escaped North Korea. In a place where Bibles are banned and evangelism is illegal, radio is one of the only ways an estimated 400,000 believers can hear the Gospel in their heart language. FEBC has been one of the last remaining voices still broadcasting hope into North Korea.
