Last week, we hosted our Annual Family Picnic, a fan-favourite event that brings Aspire individuals and families together for an afternoon of community and fun. This year’s theme was Family Games Night and featured a variety of exciting activities, including face painting, balloon art, and much more!🎲💙

Thank you to the event committee for organizing such an enjoyable afternoon. Despite the rainy weather, we saw more than 400 people attend with enthusiasm and smiles on their faces, reflecting the incredible strength of the Aspire community spirit.

A huge thank you to our event sponsors, for their generosity and ElevATE Society for filling us up with delicious burritos! Special thanks also go to the@bcrcmp, .fire.rescue, and Leanne from for volunteering their time and helping make this event such a success. Our community partners play an important role in making events like this possible.

On Saturday, Aspire partnered with to host Processes, Projects, and Pedagogy at the Seedlings Early Childhood Developmental Hub.

The event was designed as a community gallery space where educators could share pedagogical projects and research, while engaging in important professional dialogue. It was a great success, connecting educators from across the Lower Mainland to exchange ideas and reflect on the processes that shape meaningful learning experiences for children, families, and communities.

This Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM), we highlight the importance of building a workforce that is diverse, inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities.

At Aspire, we support employment opportunities through our Supported Employment Program, as well as the HandyCrew Cooperative, which specializes in home maintenance and outdoor and indoor projects. These initiatives provide training and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, empowering them to bring their own unique skills and knowledge to the workforce.

Employment is a key aspect of community inclusion, allowing individuals to learn, grow and fully participate in their communities. Disability Employment Awareness Month is not only a time to recognize the businesses that champion employment opportunities for people with disabilities, but it also calls on us to reflect on how we can continue to remove barriers and create more accessible employment opportunities for all 💙

Last week, Aspire attended Cambie Community Carnival, an exciting evening of food, games, bouncy castles and music. It was so lovely to connect with the Richmond community, particularly the children who enjoyed making animal masks at our booth! We hope to see you again next year 🎪💙

A huge congratulations is in order for athlete Katelyn, who recently won 3 medals at the Special Olympics Summer Games!!!

This year's Summer Games were held in Medicine Hat, AB, and saw more than 1700 participants compete across 10 different sports.

Katelyn won a gold, silver and bronze medal, an incredible achievement. Well done Katelyn 💙

Meet Tom, a member of our HandyCrew team!

Tom has been with HandyCrew since 2022 and loves his work. He is part of the weekly crew cleaning the Snoezelen at one of Aspire's programs, and particularly enjoys cleaning the ball pit. He is currently saving up for his sister's wedding!

The is conducting a survey to help inform the future of Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site.

As restoration of the site’s heritage buildings nears completion, the City of Richmond is reviewing options to support its long-term sustainability. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas to help improve the site's accessibility and admission.

To complete the survey, participants must first log in to their Let’s Talk Richmond account. Those who do not already have an account can select the “Join” button to create one. Alternatively, an electronic copy of the survey may be requested by emailing [email protected] . The survey closes at 11:59 pm on August 30, 2026.

Last weekend, a group of creative Aspire staff and their children ran a fun wand-making activity at Richmond Garlic Festival using sticks from the local environment.

Thank you everyone that got involved with our booth, whether by volunteering, decorating or simply stopping by to chat about Aspire's programs. We are so pleased with how popular the activity was and hope that everyone had a wonderful time getting crafty!
