• Every person has a right to safety.
• The causes of violence and abuse are multiple and rooted in all systems of society.

Our beliefs and assumptions matter. When supporting someone impacted by trauma or abuse, the language we use can either open the door to healing or reinforce harm. If we want people to feel safe sharing their truth, we must lead with empathy. Wanna learn how? Check out REAL talk at www.realtalksk.eventbrite.ca

June is the National Indigenous History Month.

June is National Indigenous History Month! A time to honour the rich history, cultural knowledge, and enduring strength of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Turtle Island.

This month invites all of us to learn more, listen deeply, and reflect on the histories and contributions of Indigenous peoples - not only in the past, but in the present and future of these lands.

Let this be a time of celebration, remembrance, and recommitment to truth and reconciliation.

We especially invite you to mark June 21 - National Indigenous Peoples Day - with ceremony, learning, and solidarity

⚠️ Content note: Includes coercive control and experiences of gender-based violence in rural and agricultural. Please take care while reading and engage in a way that feels safe for you.

A recent Women in Ag Magazine feature sheds light on coercive control, a form of abuse that is often invisible, but deeply impactful.
Rather than physical violence, coercive control involves ongoing patterns of manipulation, criticism, and restriction that can limit a person’s independence and sense of self. In rural and agricultural settings, these dynamics can be even harder to recognize due to isolation and close community ties.
Raising awareness is an important step toward creating safer, more supportive environments across agriculture.

Sometimes the most important conversations are also the hardest ones to start.

Many people want to support someone who may be struggling — they just don’t always know what to say, what signs to look for, or how to help without making things worse.

In partnership with Abridge Consulting, our upcoming workshop, Start the Conversation: Su***de Awareness in Our Community, is designed to help build confidence in having those conversations within agricultural and rural communities.

Together, we’ll explore practical ways to recognize distress, respond with care, and strengthen support across our communities.

Moose Hide Campaign Day 2026

Moose Hide Campaign Day was held May 14. Whether you attended a local event, joined the livestream, or wore your pin, your participation makes a difference in ending violence against women and children.

Although the Campaign Day has passed, the work continues throughout the year. Wearing and sharing your Moose Hide pin is one way to continue these conversations forward and remind others that we all have a role to play in ending violence.

Missed it? You can still watch the Toronto livestream and learn how to carry the message forward all year long:

STOPS is inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to join our Leadership Team as we continue building a more collaborative, shared approach to leadership and decision-making through sociocracy.

We are looking for people who want to learn alongside others, contribute their perspectives and experience, and be part of conversations that help shape safer and more connected communities across Saskatchewan. We welcome a wide range of experiences and ways of knowing. This may include community leadership, professional experience, lived experience, natural support roles, or a passion for violence prevention, well-being, and social change. Previous board experience is not required.
