Learning to read is one of the most important skills a child can develop.

This September, the Government of Saskatchewan is providing provincial reading screeners to schools across the province to help identify students who may need extra support.

Innovative ideas come in many forms. The Teacher Innovation and Support Fund (TISF) supports a range of teacher-led projects in schools across the province.

A recent project is the Robotics and Coding Club at St. Mary’s School in Estevan, which improves critical thinking and develops student adaptability and flexibility. It’s just one of the 169 projects funded through the TISF to date.

The current intake for TISF applications from teachers is open until Friday, Oct. 2.
