Thank you to the UofR President’s Office and President Keshen; the Provost’s Office, Dr. David Gregory; the Faculty of Arts and Dean Tobias Sperlich; and the PAIS Department for their sponsorship and support for the University of Regina Model United Nations conference 2026.

Deep appreciation to Dr. Brian McQuinn for delivering a powerful keynote and for his guidance throughout this journey.

Thank you to UofR Hospitality Services and David Boys for helping us bring the logistics to life, and to the incredible teacher chaperones who ensured their students could fully experience this opportunity.

And a special nod to UofR Communications & Marketing and The Carillon’s Editor‑in‑Chief, Shivangi Sharma, for their interest in covering this milestone for our campus.

Here’s to collaboration, community, and creating space for student leadership to shine.

I have been involved with URMUN since early 2025. In that time, I have attended nearly all events, tabling for the club, and simulations, as well as attending both executive and volunteer meetings. With this experience I have been able to get a better understanding for the behind the scenes work that goes into the club. I believe I would do well in this role with many ideas that I believe would expand the reach of the club to a larger audience through collaboration and integration of other platforms. In terms of club engagement I have worked on, designed, and built several simulations, including the Zombie Apocalypse, Fall of the Soviet Union, Harry Potter, and the Covid-19 Apocalypse simulation.

On multiple occasions I have been complimented for both the quality of my photography as well as my videography, and I would be able to put these skills towards social media. I am very flexible with my scheduling for attending events and I am also comfortable with being on camera to make content on short notice and have been told that my personality makes it more confutable for people to be on camera. I have worked with the current VP of Social Media for both on and off camera work, and will use this experience in the future.
I hope to be elected as your VP Social Media and to connect with the student body as a whole.

My name is Kushi Beeharry, and I am a first-year student pursuing a major in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. I am excited to apply for the roles of VP Finance, Secretary, and VP Events within the MUN club, as l am eager to contribute both my organisational skills and leadership experience to the team.

I bring practical experience in financial management through my internship in the Post Trade Services department at Absa Bank in Mauritius. This role required accuracy, responsibility, and attention to detail - skills that I believe are essential for the VP Finance position. I am confident in my ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial transparency within the club.

In addition, I have strong leadership and organisational experience from serving as President of the Performing Arts Club in high school. In this role, I was responsible for planning and executing events, and ensuring smooth operations from start to finish. This experience has prepared me well for both the Secretary and VP Events roles, where communication, and ex*****on are key. I would describe myself as proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented. I take initiative, adjust quickly to new environments, and ensure that every task I handle is completed thoroughly and efficiently. I am also approachable and enjoy working collaboratively, which I believe is important in a team-driven environment like MUN.

Through these roles, I hope to contribute to maintaining strong internal coordination, and ensuring the club’s continued growth and success. I am motivated to support the team and make a meaningful impact within the MUN community.

Since April 2025, I have had the privilege of volunteering as URMUN’s social media and communications executive. From that period to the present, I have developed a system that enables me to post effectively, as well as an algorithm that suggests trends for the club to remain relevant. In addition, the club’s following has had a steady and organic growth and has opened various channels of recognition and communication for us. I have also learned to work with the whole group, curating the trends and challenges we partake in to the comfortability and ability of everyone (I know not to include a lot of dancing). Also, seeking the permission of the executive team before posts do up because everyone’s comfort is important. In closing, I acknowledge that this role relies on the support of the whole executive team and the members at large and I am ready to thrive in such an atmosphere. Thank you!

My goal as VP Events is to connect URMUN with the wider university community by organizing meaningful and memorable events that promote engagement, inclusivity, and a strong sense of community that reflects the interest of our members. I am eager to collaborate with other members of the University of Regina Model United Nations club to ensure proper structuring and effective organization using my leadership, problem solving, and interpersonal skills. My passion for service and impact drive me to create experiences that contribute meaningful value to the club.

Hi, I’m Stacey Wang. I bring a balanced combination of interpersonal, analytical, and creative skills that make me a strong candidate for VP External and Marketing, VP Finance, and VP Social and Communications.

I am outgoing and confident in building connections, allowing me to effectively develop partnerships and maintain strong external relationships. This aligns well with the responsibilities of VP External and Marketing. Through my role as a Creative Strategist with Enactus Regina, I have gained experience using social media platforms strategically to increase engagement, visibility, and impact.

In terms of finance, I am detail-oriented, organized, and accountable. I have hands-on experience managing financial operations through initiatives such as organizing bake sales, where I independently handled budgeting, pricing, and tracking profits.

Lastly, as a freelance branding strategist and graphic designer, I understand the significance of visual identity, content creation, and audience engagement. I know how to use design, color, and messaging effectively to capture attention and communicate a cohesive brand image, which directly supports the role of VP Social and Communications.

Hello my name is Lila Banionyte, I am a third year BSW student, and I am running for URMUN President. As president, I want to focus on growing the opportunities available to club members to develop, test, and apply their MUN skills through both external conferences and internal events. This past year I served as the Director General of External Affairs at URMUN, where I had the privilege of working alongside an incredible team to plan events, recruit new members, and strengthen our constitution. In this role, I developed strong skills in communication, leadership, and adaptability.

Some of my key achievements from this year include:
- Building relationships with local businesses and securing donations for our fundraisers
- Contacting several organizations for funding and obtaining a few approvals
- Coordinating the logistics to send out a delegation to Concordia’s MUN conference in Montreal
- Attending CONMUN as Head Delegate, resolving various challenges ranging from travel issues to equity concerns
- Reaching out and maintaining communication efforts to promote our high school conference

My goals for URMUN are to:
- Grow membership by increasing exposure through collaborating with other student clubs
- Host a one day internal conference to provide delegates with a more formal space to practice their skills
- Expand our delegation and send them to two or three external conferences in the upcoming year

My experiences at URMUN, combined with my background in social work education, have prepared me to be an effective and inclusive leader. My education has emphasized the
importance of creating equitable environments that foster collaboration and community. Ultimately, I want URMUN to be a space where students from diverse backgrounds come
together to engage in problem-solving and develop the skills needed to participate in broader geopolitical discourse.

Statement of Candidacy:
Since March 2025, I have served the URMUN executive team as Secretary and UNESCO Chair. My time on the board has been defined by a ā€œwork-firstā€ philosophy a commitment to the behind-the-scenes labor that makes our simulations possible. Now, I am seeking the Presidency to transition from maintaining our operations to strategically expanding our reach and influence. While I have managed the end-to-end development of our recent simulations and led our 2026 visual rebranding, my primary goal as President is to ensure these high-quality resources serve a larger, more engaged membership. I want to move URMUN beyond being a niche club and establish it as a premier academic hub for diplomacy, strategic forecasting, and leadership training.

As President, I will focus on three key pillars:

Student Retention & Academic Integration:
I will prioritize organizing simulation events within the first weeks of classes to capture and retain the interest of first-year students.

Faculty Collaboration:
I am coordinating with professors specializing in simulation classes to have their students attend our meetings as a practical extension of their academic endeavors.

Regional Leadership & Outreach:
I intend to position URMUN as a leader in the provincial
MUN circuit. By expanding our outreach to local high schools and hosting more open-invitation conferences, over the past month, I have talked to MLAs who are interested in the idea of having high school based conferences that expand beyond Regina into other cities such as White City where opportunities that we provide are rare to come by. Despite navigating significant challenges over the past year, I have maintained consistency and professionalism in my duties. I am not just seeking a title; I am committed to the sustained work of elevating our club’s profile and membership.
