A strong mentoring relationship starts with a thoughtful intake process. At BBBS, every match is carefully considered and guided by trained caseworkers who take the time to understand each young person and volunteer.

Our matching process includes:
• Learning about a young person's interests, goals, personality, and needs
• Understanding a mentor's strengths, values, and availability
• Involving families throughout the process
• Considering shared experiences, cultural connections, and long-term compatibility

A successful mentoring match is built on a foundation of trust, mutual respect, and genuine connection - setting the stage for a future filled with possibility.

It is super simple to get involved as a restaurant:

Choose a burger
🍔 Join in the fun, food, and competition while receiving recognition across BBBS
🍔 Regina and Area channels
🍔 Donate $4 from each of those burgers sold

Participating restaurants help fund and sustain mentoring relationships that give young people connection, confidence, and support from a caring adult.

As another school year comes to a close, we'd like to extend a BIG thank you to West Oak Investments for their thoughtful support of our Teen Mentoring Program.

Earlier this year, West Oak generously sponsored welcome kits for our Teen Mentoring Matches to open together, when they met each other for the first time! The kits were filled with thoughtfully selected activities, crafts, games, baking materials and love. Each one created a fun and memorable moment for each match, while at the same time giving the match an opportunity to learn more about each other and plan their next few hang outs!

Thank you for helping make this school year a memorable one for our Teen Mentoring Matches. We are grateful for community partners like West Oak who invest in local youth and help create meaningful opportunities for connection.

Growth happens when young people are encouraged to believe in what’s possible. Mentoring helps young people discover their strengths and build confidence. Once a match is created, mentors help youth step outside their comfort zones and pursue goals that matter to them.

Challenging growth can look like:
• Setting realistic but ambitious goals
• Encouraging persistence when setbacks occur
• Holding youth accountable with compassion
• Celebrating effort and progress along the way

When young people have someone who believes in their potential, they are more likely to believe in it themselves. Together, we help ignite potential and create opportunities for growth that can last a lifetime.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to recognize and reflect on the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters, we honour the strength and diversity of Indigenous communities. This month is also an invitation for non-Indigenous people to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful action toward truth, Reconciliation, and decolonization.

We remain committed to fostering relationships grounded in respect and accountability, walking alongside Indigenous Peoples in this ongoing work.
