👀If you're driving, keep a firm grip on the wheel and keep your eyes on the road to anticipate debris or other objects being blown into the road.

Did you know ⁉️

There are more than 8,800 wildlife-related collisions on Saskatchewan roads each year?

Collisions with wildlife can injure drivers and passengers and cause significant vehicle damage. On average there are over 400 injuries and two fatalities from wildlife-related collisions on Saskatchewan roads every year.

Paying attention to the road and surrounding area, watching for wildlife warning signs, adjusting speed for road conditions and visibility, and knowing when wildlife activity peaks can improve driver and passenger safety.

🦌 Oh deer! Wildlife warning signs aren't just guesswork.

Wildlife warning signs are installed in areas where animal activity is more common, and drivers are more likely to encounter wildlife on or near the highway.

We look at factors like: 🦌 Wildlife movement patterns📍 Areas with a history of wildlife vehicle collisions🌲 Habitat and landscape features near the highway

Next time you see a yellow wildlife sign remember to scan the roadside and watch your speed -- especially at dawn and dusk when animals are often most active.

An excellent reminder for SGI customers from our friends at Saskatchewan RCMP!

If you receive a suspicious email or message that appears to be from SGI, don’t click any links or provide personal, credit card or banking information.

Instead, log in to MySGI or call our Customer Service Centre at 1-844-855-2744 to verify the message.

Watch for red flags like misspellings, unusual email addresses or urgent requests for information.

These signs are to caution drivers they're travelling through a section of roadway regularly crossed by deer. Watch for wildlife signs and anticipate wildlife crossing throughout Saskatchewan highways even if there aren't signs. Most collisions with wildlife are deer and they can cause serious damage to your vehicle. Oh deer!

❄️🛞Don't wait for the snow to fall to install your winter tires if you have them! Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures make road conditions challenging for drivers. Preparing for changing weather early and adjusting your driving habits for the road conditions can prevent avoidable stress and lower your collision risk.

Slow down, scan the road shoulder to shoulder, and notice wildlife crossing signs. It's wildlife matting season which means drivers are more likely to encounter moose and deer populations crossing the roads to chase love. ❤️🦌

Be alert! There's moose on the loose! 👀🫎 Dawn and dusk are the peak times for wildlife collisions. Visibility is reduced when the sun is on the horizon because the glare makes it difficult to see wildlife approaching the road.
