From the Executive Director:

The Genesis Process

As stated in earlier newsletters we employ the Genesis Process as its primary practice model for addiction recovery. The Genesis Process: This is described as a multi-faceted approach that uniquely addresses the:

· Physical components of addiction: This involves understanding the neurochemical aspects of substance use and withdrawal.

· Mental components of addiction: This focuses on the psychological and emotional factors contributing to addictive behaviours.

· Spiritual components of addiction: This aspect integrates Christian teachings and principles to explore the underlying beliefs and brokenness that can lead to self-destructive behaviours.

In summary, the Red Deer Dream Centre utilizes the Genesis Process, a model that integrates physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of addiction recovery through a combination of evidence-based practices, Christian principles, community support, and individualized care planning with a strong emphasis on long-term recovery and reintegration.

A heartfelt thank you to Celebrate Recovery Canada / CrossRoads Church Celebrate Recovery for inviting Executive Director Darryl Wilkie and Marketing & Fund Development Lead Peter Davyduck to share the heart and vision of the Red Deer Dream Centre at your monthly Central Alberta CR Leaders Meeting.

Celebrate Recovery continues to be an invaluable partner in the recovery journey—helping connect men to our program, supporting them while they're here, and providing a strong recovery community long after commencement. We are grateful for your ongoing partnership and the hope you bring to so many lives across Central Alberta.

Donor Spotlight!

This month we want to send out a huge thank you to Bob Bevins / Bulldog Metals LTD

Thanks to Bob’s incredible generosity (and one of his many donations to the centre), we were able to purchase brand new stacking tables and chairs!

Not only do they look fantastic and help tie the dining room together, they’re going to be a game-changer for all the events and gatherings we host here.

Thank you so much, Bob! Your continued support means the world to us!

There is help. There is hope. Reach out. 211 Alberta

Sasquatch Hunting & Time Travel in Nordegg

This month’s client outing took us on an adventurous journey into the Rocky mountains again. We headed to historic Nordegg for a day of “Sasquatch hunting” combined with an in-depth tour of the legendary Brazeau Collieries mine site.

The weather cooperated beautifully as we stepped back in time to explore one of Alberta’s most important coal mining heritage sites. Once a bustling community built around the mines, Nordegg’s story came alive as we walked through the very operations that put this town on the map.

Highlights of the tour included:

The tunnel entrances

The still-standing dynamite shack (a very good sign, we all agreed!)

The blacksmith and wood shops

The old warehouse

The cleaner and briquette plant

The unique “Vancouver” modular homes

And countless other fascinating details of daily mining life from a bygone era.
After soaking in all the history, we wrapped up our 8-hour excursion with a relaxing late lunch at the scenic Taunton/Fortner Trestle. The views were absolutely stunning and provided the perfect backdrop to reflect on the day.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us — it was another memorable outing filled with history, laughter, and a little bit of Sasquatch mystery!

Looking forward to our next adventure… in Kananaskis country!!
