For 36 years, Annie L. Gaetz Elementary and the Red Deer Rebels have shared a special partnership that goes far beyond the hockey rink!

Throughout the school year, Rebels players step into the classroom to read with students, support their writing and learning, and build meaningful connections as mentors and role models. These relationships help inspire students, build confidence and make learning even more memorable.

The partnership kicked off with a special Rebels assembly, where players selected pucks from the middle of the gym. Each puck had a teacher’s name hidden underneath, revealing the classroom the player would work with for the rest of the school year!

Here’s to another year of learning, growing and building connections - one classroom visit at a time.
