Forest vegetation is drying out with an increasing risk of wildfires.

A Permit to Burn is required to burn vegetation, brush, debris, wood, paper products or other flammable material in an open fire on forest land, within 300 metres of forest land, or on land that contains flammable vegetation.
Outdoor fires (e.g. campfires) are permitted with conditions.
Activities on forested land should be conducted with caution.

Fire restrictions expanded across NL 🔥

The latest Fire Weather Index shows high, very high, and extreme fire danger across much of the province.

⚠️ Current restrictions include:

* ❌ Burn permits are suspended in all areas rated High, Very High, or Extreme.
* ❌ Fireworks and sky lanterns are banned in those same areas.
* 🔥 All outdoor fires, including campfires, are prohibited in areas rated High, Very High or Extreme.

Labrador: A full fire ban remains in effect until July 13, meaning no outdoor fires of any kind.

In other parts of the province, campfires are only permitted in areas with Low, Moderate, or High fire ratings, and must follow all provincial restrictions.

If you spot a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 1-866-709-FIRE (3473).

Please be extra cautious outdoors. With hot, dry conditions across much of the province, even a small spark can quickly become a wildfire.
