Special thanks to Origins Academy for inviting Mayor Mary Schryer and Kennebecasis Regional Police Force Sgt. Kelley McIntyre to speak to students on Thursday.

Mayor Schryer spoke about the composition and responsibilities of council along with the services and amenities available to our youth, including parks, playgrounds, trails, the 97.3 The Wave pool and much more.

Sgt. McIntyre talked about her role as the community outreach coordinator for the police force and how she supports parents and youths in our community.

Thank you to the classes at Lakefield Elementary School, Chris Saunders Memorial Elementary School and Quispamsis Elementary School for welcoming Jenn and Cameron, our activities and active transportation and Arts and Culture Park coordinators, to your schools over the last two weeks.

Each year, Quispamsis aims to educate students about the active transportation options in our community, including the use of our many trails, walking, biking and more.

The Arts and Culture Park Summer Series – Movies, Music and Movement in the Park – Canada Day and International Mud Day are more great ways to enjoy the outdoors in our community in the warmer months.

The marigolds are back!

Town Hall and the Arts & Culture Park look absolutely beautiful, thanks to the Grade 3 (and a few from Grade 2 and Grade 4) expert gardeners from Quispamsis Elementary School, Lakefield Elementary School and Chris Saunders Memorial Elementary School, who showed off their planting skills today, just weeks after helping the town plant the same marigolds as seeds in our greenhouse.

More than 5,000 marigolds were planted in front of Quispamsis Town Hall, in the Arts and Culture Park and along the walking path near the Wheels and Ramps Skateboard Park! And everyone stuck around for a barbeque after, hosted by our staff.

Thanks, as well, to Mayor Mary Schryer and Deputy Mayor Kerrie Luck, our horticulturalists and town staff, and school faculty and volunteers who came together to help the students on this special day.

It was a perfect day for planting!

Be sure to visit the Arts and Culture Park all summer to see the marigolds and other wonderful, colourful plants that make it one of the most popular summer spots in our community.

The ongoing installation of a watermain on Cedar Ridge Boulevard and Clarwood Drive will result in the temporary closure of one northbound lane of vehicle traffic on Hampton Road at the construction zone.

Clarwood Drive will also be closed to thru traffic between Hampton Road and Cedar Ridge Boulevard.
