Historique de la Batterie V
La Batterie V a renoué avec son rôle opérationnel en 2010, redevenant pleinement fonctionnelle comme batterie d’observation au sein du 5e Régiment d’artillerie légère du Canada. Lors de sa réactivation, elle était commandée par la major Marie Christine Harvey, appuyée par l’adjudant François Pérusse, alors sergent major de batterie.
Depuis cette réactivation, neuf commandants de batterie et huit sergents majors de batterie se sont succédé, chacun contribuant à l’évolution, au professionnalisme et à l’excellence opérationnelle de la Batterie V.
En 2012, la Batterie V a marqué un jalon important de son histoire en mettant sur pied le premier détachement de parachutisme officiel du 5 RALC. Il convient de souligner qu’avant cette initiative, la dernière entité du régiment associée à une capacité parachutiste remontait aux années 1970.
Deux ans plus t**d, en 2014, la Batterie V a poursuivi sa modernisation avec l’introduction de la cellule JTAC, renforçant ainsi son rôle central dans l’intégration des feux et l’appui interarmées.
Entre 2015 et 2017, la batterie a traversé une période de transition durant laquelle elle a été temporairement dissoute, ses membres étant répartis au sein des troupes tactiques des bie X et R. À l’issue de cette période, la Batterie V a été réactivée sous la direction du major Lanouette et de l’adjudant Gagné, retrouvant ainsi sa cohésion et son identité propre.
Depuis ce retour, la Batterie V s’est distinguée par un engagement opérationnel soutenu. Elle a participé à plusieurs rotations de l’opération REASSURANCE, en déployant des détachements d’observateurs avancés, des JTAC ainsi que des membres du Centre de coordination des feux d’appui (CCFA). Elle a également fourni un soutien essentiel à la Batterie Q dans le cadre de l’opération IMPACT, en y affectant plusieurs membres.
Aujourd’hui, la Batterie V demeure fidèle à son héritage : une batterie agile, compétente et pleinement engagée au service de la mission, du régiment et des Forces armées canadiennes.

History of V Battery
V Battery resumed its operational role in 2010, becoming fully functional as an observation battery within the 5 RALC. At the time of its reactivation, it was commanded by Major Marie-Christine Harvey, supported by Warrant Officer François Pérusse, then Battery Sergeant Major.
Since this reactivation, nine battery commanders and eight battery sergeant majors have served, each contributing to the development, professionalism, and operational excellence of V Battery.
In 2012, V Battery reached a significant milestone in its history by establishing the first official parachute detachment of the 5 RALC. It is worth noting that prior to this initiative, the regiment's last unit with a parachute capability dated back to the 1970s.
Two years later, in 2014, V Battery continued its modernization with the introduction of the JTAC cell, reinforcing its central role in fire integration and joint support.
Between 2015 and 2017, the battery underwent a transition period during which it was temporarily disbanded, its members being distributed among the tactical troops of X and R Batteries. Following this period, V Battery was reactivated under the command of Major Lanouette and Warrant Officer Gagné, regaining its cohesion and distinct identity.
Since its reactivation, V Battery has distinguished itself through sustained operational engagement. It participated in several rotations of Operation REASSURANCE, deploying forward observer detachments, JTACs, and members of the Support Fire Coordination Centre (SFCC). It also provided essential support to Q Battery during Operation IMPACT, assigning several members to the battery.
Today, V Battery remains true to its heritage: an agile, capable, and fully committed battery serving the mission, the regiment, and the Canadian Armed Forces.
