Three days of setup.
Hundreds of student artworks.
An incredible community effort.
The DARE Art Exhibit is almost ready.
Setup by the numbers:
• Day 1 — 4 people, 8 hours
• Day 2 — 3 people, 8 hours
• Day 3 — 2 people, 8 hours
And after the exhibit closes, another half day for takedown.
Events like this do not happen magically. They happen because many people quietly give their time, energy, creativity, expertise, and support behind the scenes.
A preliminary thank you to the Ville de Québec for lending us the beautiful space at the Centre d’interprétation historique de Sainte-Foy, along with specialized equipment, museum technicians, and staff support throughout the installation process.
A sincere thank you as well to Ms. Paula Breton and Ms. Joanne Arsenault for continuing to support the arts at QHS and helping this multidisciplinary project grow stronger each year.
Thank you to QHS administration for supporting the exhibit financially, including the opening night reception, food and drinks for guests, and the time and resources needed to make a project of this scale possible.
Thank you as well to the many teachers contributing work from their classes and helping make this a truly multidisciplinary exhibit — including visual arts, ceramics, digital art, photography, entrepreneurship, and math-inspired creative projects.
A special thank you as well to Mr. Domonkos and Mr. Rompré for organizing live music for opening night, and to Mr. Buick, who will be photographing the evening.
Every year, we wonder if we will have enough artwork to fill the space.
And every year, our students completely amaze us.
This year, the exhibit is absolutely full — wall to wall with drawings, paintings, photography, ceramics, mixed media, design projects, and creative risks taken by students across multiple programs and grade levels.
Most of all, thank you to the students. Your creativity, courage, experimentation, and hard work are what fill these walls.
Opening night is tomorrow from 6:00–8:00 p.m. If you miss the opening night, the exhibit will also be open to the public from Friday to Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm each day.
We can’t wait to welcome the community.
