Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue Serving Qualicum Beach since 1947.

We are a composite department with a team of over 30 firefighters who provide fire prevention, suppression, and rescue services to the residents of the Town of Qualicum Beach and the Qualicum Beach Fire Protection Area. We strive to create a safe community through the services of public education, fire prevention and inspections, and emergency planning.

Have you checked out the FireSmart section on our website? Discover 10 easy ways to FireSmart your property, like:

1. Clear combustible materials from under decks and maintain a 1.5m non-combustible zone around your home.
2. Clean gutters and roofs regularly; keep decks and balconies free of leaves and debris.
3. Install 3mm non-combustible screens on exterior vents (excluding dryer vents).
4. Keep grass and weeds trimmed below 10 cm.
5. Use wildfire resistant plants in your landscaping.

The campfire ban is being lifted today, Thursday, September 3rd, at noon.
Please ensure campfires are in a contained outdoor fireplace and then extinguished cold to the touch. Beach fires are not permitted at any time.

🔊 Firehall Call-Out Siren Testing - September 3rd

Routine siren testing is scheduled tomorrow, September 3rd, at approximately 7:00 pm, to ensure the system is operational for our Fire Department use.

✅️ There is no emergency.
✅️ No action is required.
✅️ The siren is for Fire Department only.

🔊 What to Expect

✅️ A brief siren with a continuous sound that rises in pitch as it winds up will last approximately 10 seconds. The test is likely audible throughout most of the municipality.

🔊 When is the next test?

✅️ The siren will be tested on the first Thursday of each month, until further notice.

Back to school is back in session! 🚸 That means more kids walking, biking, and crossing streets in our neighbourhoods.

🚗 Drivers: Slow down, stay alert, and be ready to share the road—especially during drop-off and pick-up times.
🚶Parents & Guardians: Take a moment to talk with kids about pedestrian safety—look both ways, make eye contact with drivers, and use crosswalks.

Use these FireSmart tips to help reduce the risk to your home and property this wildfire season:

1. Complete a FireSmart self-assessment or request a professional assessment from us
2. Remove combustible materials from under decks and maintain a 1.5m non-combustible zone around your home
3. Clean gutters and roofs, and keep decks and balconies free of debris
4. Install 3 mm non-combustible screens on exterior vents (except dryer vents)
5. Keep grass and weeds trimmed below 10 cm
6. Choose wildfire-resistant plants and prune trees to maintain 2 m ground clearance
7. Store firewood at least 10 m away from your home
8. Download the FireSmart Canada Wildfire Evacuation Checklist to stay prepared.

With summer in full swing, many of us are spending more time on our decks. As part of your wildfire season prep, don’t forget to clear out underneath your deck. Pine needles, leaves, and other combustible materials can build up and increase the risk to your home.
