Cumberland municipal council is holding a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, at 5 pm in the council chambers at the Upper Nappan Service Centre.
The purpose of the meeting is to hold a public hearing as part of the process to consider a six-month pause, or moratorium, on receiving and processing development applications for Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Centres in the Municipality of Cumberland.

One of Cumberland County’s favourite late-summer traditions returns Monday, Aug. 31, with the start of the Cumberland County Exhibition.

For generations, the exhibition has brought people together to celebrate our region’s strong agricultural roots, rural way of life and community spirit.

The Municipality of Cumberland is a sponsor of the Cumberland County Exhibition.

From livestock and agricultural displays to competitions, entertainment and activities for the whole family, the exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and neighbours while celebrating everything that makes Cumberland County such a special place.

The Cumberland County Exhibition is also an opportunity to recognize the farmers, exhibitors, volunteers, organizers and many others who put so much time and effort into making this annual tradition possible. Their dedication helps ensure agriculture remains an important and visible part of our communities.

We encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the festivities and support this longstanding Cumberland County tradition. Best wishes to all the exhibitors, competitors, organizers and volunteers for another successful exhibition!

There’ll be food trucks, many vendors, chain saw sculptures, kids show n’ shine, horse pulls, a foam party, car show and much more.
Among the highlights is the annual celebration of 4-H on Monday, Aug. 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 1, and the street parade on Saturday, Sept. 5.

Intake Is Now Open for the Food Ventures Program!

Need funding for creating a new product, nutrition facts tables, food safety evaluations and more? Apply for the Food Ventures program! This program provides financial support for the acceleration of innovative and safe Nova Scotia local products to market using Perennia’s quality and food safety and product development services.

Nova Scotia registered farms and agri-food and beverage businesses can apply for cost-shared funding for Perennia services. The Food Ventures Program also provides technical support and educational resources.
