The firefighters and dispatchers from Local 1372 want to wish everyone a happy and safe Labour Day.

Labour Day gives everyone a chance to reflect about workers standing together to improve working conditions, wages, safety, and dignity on the job. Those principles are deeply connected to the history of the fire service and organized firefighters.

Thanks to all our union executives, trustees and members who continue to work for the common good of our membership.

As many of our followers are aware, there was a tragic accident involving a plane crash here in Prince George. The incident has shattered a local family and has hit close to home for City of PG employees. We are sharing a link to the Go Fund me account with hopes of helping the family out during this time.

We are proud to stand with other IAFF locals who continue to step up to protect their local communities and other communities in need.

Throughout this wildfire season, the BC Wildfire Service, first responders, emergency management personnel, partner agencies and volunteers are working tirelessly to protect people and communities.

The 58th Biannual IAFF convention has begun! Delegates from across the IAFF are in attendance to debate and pass resolutions that will set the direction of the IAFF for the next two years.

Firefighters and Dispatchers from Local 1372 played their final games of the season at the College Heights Community Association Slow Pitch Year End Tournament. Thank you to the CHCA for hosting yet another great season of fun slow pitch.

Thanks to all the members who came out not only this weekend but also throughout the year to make this another successful season.

Local 1372 would like to congratulate Selen Alpay on his appointment to the Order of British Columbia. Selen has been heavily involved in numerous Charities, Organizations and community boards. He embodies what it is to give back to the community whether it is Cancer fundraising, The Spirit Of the North Healthcare Foundation, BC Summer games, Wildfire relief or countless other projects. He represents the best of Prince George.

On the evening of july 23rd Firefighters from Local 1372 were dispatched to a multi residential structure fire on Pine Street.

First arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from two residential structures. Quick actions from the firefighters from three halls were able to extinguish the fire.

Thanks to our Local 1372 Firefighters and Dispatchers for their excellent work to continue to proudly protect Prince George.

It’s not every day you get a piece of your history back.

Today, Local 1372 proudly welcomed home this 1953 GMC Fire Truck, thanks to the generosity of Grant Moulder, who carefully preserved it, and NC Ron’s Towing, who generously donated the transportation to bring it home.

A huge thank you to both Grant and NC Ron’s Towing for helping preserve an important piece of Prince George’s firefighting history.

Our goal is to restore this apparatus to its original glory and proudly display it alongside our beautifully restored 1927 Rio. It won’t be an easy project—bringing this truck back to life will require specialized labour, hard-to-find parts, and plenty of dedication.

If you’re a current or retired member, a local business, or someone who would like to help preserve a piece of Prince George history, we’d love to hear from you.

Together, we can ensure this historic fire truck is enjoyed for generations to come.
