At approximately 0351 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for a Structure Fire at a residence near White Star Road on Highway #2 North. Command 51S, Engine 51S, Tanker 51S, Tanker 52S and Tanker 53S responded with 11 Firefighters. On arrival, Command spoke with the homeowners who self evacuated to a vehicle. A burning smell was reported and the smoke detectors in the home had activated. An exterior 360 of the home was completed and nothing was showing from the outside. Crews investigated for any signs of fire and smoke inside the home and nothing was located. A gas detector was also used to check for Carbon Monoxide and no readings were found. Crews then turned the heat temperature up so the furnace would engage. Once the furnace kicked in a slight smell of burning was present. Crews turned off the furnace and informed the home owner to contact a company to service the furnace and to conduct a duct cleaning. The all clear was given and crews packed up. The home was turned back over to the owners. Crews cleared the scene and returned to the Fire Station. Big thanks to our dedicated Firefighters for the early morning response. On 2026-09-02 at approximately 0412 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for carbon monoxide alarms at a residential care facility in the RM of Buckland. Command 51S and Engine 51S responded with 6 Firefighters. On arrival, RCMP members and staff were present. Fire Command was informed of a second incident in a different building. Upon investigation, the fire alarm was sounding in this building with light smoke conditions showing. Incident was upgraded to a Structure Fire. Engine 51S arrived and crews performed forcible entry and two Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus equipped with a thermal imaging camera and a charged 44mm attack hoseline entered the structure. Crews located several small fire starts and one larger fire in a room that was extinguished by the building sprinkler system. Crews searched for any possible fire extension and none was found. Crews turned off the sprinkler system to prevent any further water damage to the building. Crews then exited the building and a positive pressure ventilation fan was set up to remove smoke from the building. Crews on air then entered the original call building with a gas detector to check for CO. No Carbon Monoxide was detected in this building. CO alarms were activated in this building due to fire extinguishers being discharged in the building. SaskPower and SaskEnergy arrived to disconnect utilities. SaskEnergy also checked for CO in the original building using their gas detector and nothing was found. The all clear was given and residents were able to return to that building. The fire building was investigated once all the smoke was cleared and the all clear was given. This building was secured and turned back over to the Manager and the RCMP. A fire investigator was notified and an investigation would be conducted in the morning. Crews were on scene for just over two hours. Members then packed up and cleared the scene to return to the Fire Station to get equipment back in service and response ready. For training this week, Firefighters completed two training evolutions.

Evolution #1 was a live vehicle fire drill.

Evolution #2 was units practicing mobile attack using our bumper turrets.

This drill was to prepare our crews for any possible farm equipment fires or a field fire with harvest season approaching.

Thank you to our Firefighters for attending. It was an excellent refresher for our team.

On 2026-08-30 at approximately 1237 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for residential fire alarms sounding at a home in the RM of Buckland. As members were responding, contact was made with the home owner and it was a confirmed false alarm. Command 51S and all members responding were stood down. Thank you to our Firefighters for responding. Incident # 83 year to date.

On 2026-08-27 at approximately 1511 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for a Vegetation Fire on Lempereur Road. Members responding to the Fire Station observed a large black column of smoke to the north. Mutual Aid Assistance was requested from the Prince Albert Fire Department, SPSA Type 1 Wildfire Crew and the SPSA Emergency Response Team. Buckland responded with Tanker 52S, Tanker 51S and Wildland 51S with 6 Firefighters. On arrival, several unused vehicles were on fire and spreading into the bush. Buckland Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus attacked and extinguished the burning vehicles while our mutual aid partners attacked the burning brush and prevented the fire from spreading to any structures. A water supply fill site was setup just south of the incident at the river to fill tanker trucks using our high-volume portable pump. At 1619 hrs, the fire was under control with crews mopping up. Our mutual aid partners were released at this time. Buckland crews cleared the scene at 1753 hrs and returned to the Station to get equipment back in-service and response ready. Many thanks to our mutual aid partners and the RCMP for your assistance. We are stronger when we work together. And as always thank you to our members for responding. Incident #82 year to date.

Our team has received a few calls this morning regarding smoke north of the fire base. The SPSA is performing a controlled burn north of the fire base today. Smoke will be visible, but the burn is planned and monitored. Be assured there is no danger to the community.

At approximately 0713 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for a Brush Fire on Walker Road. Command 51S and Wildland 51S responded with three Firefighters. Two other Firefighters remained on standby at the Fire Station. Shellbrook Fire was also dispatched and responded with a Wildland unit. On arrival, a small fire was located that was extinguished by members of the public. The scene was turned over to the RCMP. Crews cleared the scene and returned to the Station. Thank you to our members and Shellbrook Fire for responding. Incident #81 year to date.

On 2026-08-24 at approximately 2350 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for a Residential Fire Alarm in Red Wing. Command 51S and Engine 51S responded with 6 Firefighters. On arrival, Command staff spoke with the residents and determined that no emergency existed-confirmed false alarm. Engine 51 was stood down and incident terminated. In order for a Fire Department to be response ready, it requires hundreds of hours of behind the scenes work. Crews spent last evening pressure testing our fire hose in order to meet SPSA requirements set out in the Saskatchewan Fire Services Minimum Standards. Members also preformed maintenance on our high-volume portable pumps and back flushed our dry hydrant in Park Meadows. Thank you to our Firefighters for ensuring our equipment is in top notch working order.

At approximately 1432 hrs, Buckland Fire/Rescue was toned out for a Motor Vehicle Collision on Hwy #2 North. Command 51S, Rescue 51S and Engine 51S responded with 8 Firefighters. On arrival, a single vehicle rollover had occurred on the service road north of White Star Road. Parkland Ambulance and RCMP members were on scene. All patients were out of the vehicle and being treated by Paramedics. Buckland crews assisted Paramedics with patient care and established traffic control. A second Ambulance unit was requested to respond to the scene to assist. Three patients were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. Once the tow company arrived, crews were released by the RCMP. Thank you to our emergency services partners for your teamwork today. And as always thank you to our members for responding.
