Traffic Advisory: Highway 401 Eastbound Closure
A transport rollover has resulted in the closure of Highway 401 eastbound between Johnstown and Cardinal.
Due to a separate rollover on County Road 2, The Emergency Detour Route (EDR) has been changed to County Road 21. Motorists should follow posted detour signage and directions from traffic control personnel.
We are anticipating a closure of County Road 2 later today between Gullymeade Road and Riddell Road to allow for the removal of a transport truck involved in a separate collision on the Emergency Detour Route.
Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes where possible.
Updates will be shared on the municipal 511 map at www.twpec.ca/RoadClosure

UPDATE JUNE 3: County Road 2 between Cardinal and Johnstown has reopened to traffic. All road closures related to these incidents have now been lifted and roads are open to regular traffic.

UPDATE JUNE 2, 1:00 P.M.: Highway 401 has reopened. Rooney Road and Cedar Grove Road are also open to regular traffic. County Road 2 remains closed to through traffic during cleanup operations.

UPDATE JUNE 2, 12:00 P.M.: Rooney Road and Cedar Grove Road are restricted to local traffic only. County Road 2 between Johnstown and Cardinal is closed to through traffic during cleanup operations.

Stop by Town Hall today and grab some information on how to be better prepared for emergencies. There is great information for Seniors, people with disabilities and copies of an emergency plan that you can take home and fill out so its ready to go with key information when an emergency arises. Don't forget about your pets.....there is an itemized list of what to pack for your pet in your emergency kit as well! Drop your name into the draw for a 72 Hour Emergency Kit when you stop in! We rely on technology more and more to keep in touch with our family, friends, and colleagues with a click of a button. But what happens in the event of a major emergency? Suddenly these tools can become vital in helping you and your family deal get in touch and stay informed. So here are some tips on the use of technology in an emergency:

* If possible, use non-voice channels like text messaging, email or social media. These use less bandwidth than voice communications and may work even when phone service doesn't.
* If you must use a phone, keep your conversation brief and convey only vital information to emergency personnel and/or family. This will also conserve your phone's battery. Unable to complete a call? Wait 10 seconds before redialing to help reduce network congestion
* Keep a charger for your mobile device in your emergency kit. Consider getting a solar-powered, crank, or vehicle phone charger. If you don't have a cell phone, keep a prepaid phone card in your emergency kit.
* Keep your contacts up to date on your phone, email, and other channels. This will make it easier to reach important contacts, such as friends, family, neighbours, child's school, or insurance agent.
* If you have a smartphone, save your safe meeting location(s) on its mapping application
* Conserve your smartphone's battery by reducing the screen's brightness, placing your phone in airplane mode, and closing apps you are not using.
* Remember, in an emergency or to save a life, call 9-1-1 for help.
