UPDATE - for those of you who are curious - it's in Khartoum Lake.

Just looking thru my photos and saw this one. It was taken on one of the lakes not usually associated with the Canoe Route but still part of it. Can anyone guess where it is?

Some Red-Throated Loons were spotted on the route last summer by a paddler.

Current Trail / Site Reopening Notice Nanton Ireland Portage

Trail Update (as of April 6, 2023)

This trail is now passable once again, however a large amount of woody debris is still present along the impacted sections. In some sections the trail is rough as it takes detours around new obstacles. More clean up and rebuilding is still required to return this trail to standard.

Please be advised, Nanton- Ireland Lake Trail is temporarily closed due to a massive tree blow-down event. The route is crossed with multiple large and dangerous snags that are impassable. Route users should temporarily avoid the western side of the canoe route until we can make the area passable again. Users should detour via the eastern side of the route using the Little Horseshoe Portage (1,174m) and Beaver Lake Portages (451m ,724m). Please note, the Little Horseshoe North Rec Site may be closed due to logging in the area. Please follow any posted signs.
