The Town of Portugal Cove - St. Philip's

The Town of Portugal Cove - St. Philip's Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s is a growing modern town in a rural coastal setting. Philip’s is a growing modern town in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.

We are close to St. John’s, but separate enough to offer a quiet and rich existence on the edge of the Atlantic. Families and businesses are growing, and life is good. Better yet, we’re surrounded by jaw-dropping coastline and hundreds of years of history and folklore

This page is a forum for information and dialogue with our residents and visitors. We encourage people, community groups and busin

esses to submit photos, promote their events and celebrate our community together. Our goal is to create a positive environment for us all to gather and create an online community as rich as our real one.

Exciting upgrades are coming to Rainbow Gully Park! 🛝✨

While our brand-new, accessible equipment was originally scheduled to go in this week, the playground installation has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.

But there is a silver lining! This means the playground will remain OPEN for the weekend 🎉 Since it's still June is Recreation Month, get out there, enjoy the park, and don't forget to submit your pictures for a chance to win a prize! 📸🏆

A new update will be posted next week with the official closure dates so we can safely install the new equipment. Once started, the installation is expected to take about a week.

During the upcoming closure, there will be no public access to the playground area or structures. Thank you for your patience as we work to make our community spaces more inclusive for all families!

We have more exciting updates on the way! The grand opening of the new Splashpad is coming very soon! 💦☀️

On behalf of The Town of Portugal Cove - St. Philip's Council and staff, Mayor Bartlett has proclaimed June as National Indigenous History Month throughout our community 🧡

This month is a time to honour and celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, languages, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. Indigenous Peoples have lived on and cared for these lands since time immemorial, and their knowledge, resilience, and stewardship continue to enrich communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, and throughout Canada.

In observance, Town hall and facilities will be closed on Monday, June 22. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, June 23 (8:30 am to 4:00 pm). If assistance is required, please call our after-hours line (709) 895-8000 and in the event of an emergency, please dial 911.

We encourage all residents to take part in activities and learning opportunities that celebrate Indigenous histories, cultures, and contributions, and to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and mutual respect 🧡
