Find Canada Day events in the City of Portage la Prairie here: Canada-Day-Agenda (strideplace.ca)

This yearโ€™s fireworks display will be off the southwest bank of the causeway and will primarily be fired west, with some shells being fired to the east. The causeway will be under normal operation for both vehicle and foot traffic until 9:00 pm on July 1st when it will be closed for the fireworks. Fireworks will begin at 10:30 pm.

There will be no access to the dock / kayak launch on the southwest bank of the causeway, however the dock / ramp to the east of the windmill will be accessible, along with the docks installed in front of Crescentview School and 18th Street SW.

Road Closures beginning at 9:00 pm on Wednesday, July 1st for the Canada Day fireworks:

Provincial Dutch elm disease (DED) surveys and invasive pest monitoring are underway again this season in participating communities.

Over the next few weeks, provincial inspectors will be walking and driving through both public and private properties to identify DED-infected trees and elm firewood. Inspections will begin on June 22, 2026 in our community.
