Sara from the CFS of Central Manitoba Foundation was down to accept a cheque from us to fund the installation of new building signage, as many do not know their Foundation office exists within the CFS building on 3rd Street SE. The CFS of Central Manitoba Foundation creates opportunities for youth in our community through four "Chance 2 Programs": Chance 2 Grow, Chance 2 Learn, Chance 2 Camp, and Arron's Chance 2 Play Hockey. CFPD was happy to help this organization increase their visibility in the community by providing this Spring Grant!

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to our 'CFPD Pay-it-Forward Days' event partners for helping to make this new initiative a success! Five local businesses/organizations agreed to let us 'pay it forward' at their locations from April 26-28, by randomly surprising their customers/clients with free food and/or activities! Thank you to event partners—Herman Prior Activity Centre, Tim Horton's, Southport Golf Club, Chicken Chef, and PRRA/Stride Place—for being such gracious hosts! And to Southport Aerospace, Chicken Chef, and PRRA for financially supporting the event!

CFPD Executive Director Lorna Knight and Board Chair Cathie McFarlane visited the Oakville Silver Threads Seniors group, at the Oakville Active Living Centre, to present them with a cheque to fund their new flooring project. The CFPD Granting Committee saw the value in funding this project as, without new flooring, the Active Living Centre was at risk of closing due to not meeting health code requirements. The Active Living Centre has about 60 members participating in their programs annually, including enjoying low-cost meals with others, crafting, games, yoga, a book and puzzle library, and more—all things that promote social connectedness, and physical and mental wellness!

CFPD Executive Director and Vice Chair Stephanie Verhoeven visited Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment Centre to present them with a cheque to put toward the purchase of a new pottery kiln. CFPD saw the value in this project as arts programming is a very valuable offering to people of all ages and backgrounds in our community, including students from local schools. Experiencing a new form of art, such as pottery making, encourages creativity and well-roundedness—some very positive things!

CFPD Executive Director Lorna Knight and Vice Chair Stephanie Verhoeven visited the Portage Learning & Literacy Centre to present them with a cheque to put toward some exciting programming. The CFPD Grant will allow PLLC to implement a new "Driving Forward" Program (to provide driving lessons to reduce transportation barriers for participants); fund their Food Security Program (which provides breakfast and snacks for learners attending the Centre); and to fund equipment for their Summer Youth Engagement Program (which provides structured activities for newcomer children and youth in the summer). CFPD is very happy to fund these very valuable programs offered by an organization that does great things to improve life for the people of Portage!
