Come join a fun running event along the apron of Southport CYPG tomorrow morning, and help raise money for local community initiatives! If you haven't got your registration in yet for the Southport RUNway, you can do so online until midnight tonight at https://southport.ca/news/2026-southport-runway/. Registration table opens at 7:00 am and race begins at 8:00 am (with kids' race at 10:00 am)!

Did you know we hold a fund that pays out annually to the Portage Terriers Hockey Team, for dressing room upgrades and equipment? With the 'Geno Romanow Par 3 Challenge Golf Tournament' happening tomorrow—which supports the Portage Terriers—we thought it was a fitting time to highlight the 'Geno Romanow Legacy Fund' held with CFPD as well! As a new school year begins, we would like to highlight the impact that our Bursary & Awards Program has on student recipients. Gracie Gargol received CFPD's Radford Award for Math in 2025, which helped reduce the stress associated with paying for her first-year tuition of an engineering degree. She was again the successful recipient of this award in June, 2026. CFPD is happy to financially support local students as they pursue their career goals!

Just a reminder that we are closed today in recognition of Labour Day, and will re-open tomorrow at 9:00 am. Labour Day was declared an official holiday way back in 1894, to commemorate a movement that sought to reduce work-day hours and ensure fair labour practices. This movement began in 1872, with the Toronto Printers’ Strike – the original “fight for fairness” that won major changes including the decriminalization of unions in Canada.
