Association of Manitoba Municipalities AMM moves the interests of Manitoba Municipalities across the finish line. Together. Uniting Manitoba Municipalities in non-partisan advocacy.

Join us in shaping a better future for our communities. One of the main functions of the AMM is to advocate on issues that affect Manitoba municipalities. Many issues are raised by our members through resolutions or correspondence, which we then bring to the attention of the provincial or federal government. Other issues are initiated by other orders of government when they draft legislation or re

gulations that affect municipalities. The AMM monitors and responds to any legislation affecting municipal government. The AMM is solely funded by its members and its trading company.

City of Portage la Prairie - Municipal Government city manager highlights growing role of women leaders

City Manager Nicole Chychota reflected on leadership, inclusion, and the importance of helping remove barriers that may discourage participation in municipal government.

Chychota reflects on some of the broader shifts she has observed in local government and the efforts that can help make leadership positions more accessible.

“We are seeing a lot more women signing up for these roles, which is great to see,” Chychota says. “I think a lot of councils, in particular, have made it a priority to create an environment that is both welcoming and suited to women to join leadership positions.”
