Update:

• Crews cleared the scene of a fire at 3:20 AM.

• This fire is under investigation and was not a controlled burn.

• A separate, controlled burn in the area contributed to the smoke but was managed.

Crews are currently on scene at a marsh fire by the diversion near Delta beach. Please remain out of the area and allow crews to work.

Yesterday at just after 5pm crews were dispatched for a grass fire south east of portage. Crews were quickly able to get the fire under control.

Crews were spread out to multiple areas of the RM of Portage last night with a series of grass fires and downed power lines.

Starting at 6:45 pm crews responded to 9 seperate fire calls. Including fires near Lynches Point campground and St. Ambrose. As well as south near Newton and west of Southport on Town line rd. Nearby fire departments Gladstone, Woodlands Fire Department and Cartier Fire Department were called to help out. All units were back in service around 2am.

We would also like to extend our appreciation you to the many other people that helped out on multiple scenes.

Around 2pm a request for mutual aid to Long Plain First Nation for a large grass fire endangering several residences.

A fully staffed crew responded with a tanker and our side by side. Crews assisted Long Plain FD in containing the fire, no residences were lost. Crews cleared once fire was under control.
