The National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations rebuked the Alberta separation movement during a meeting with King Charles at Buckingham Palace.

"The King was there with us in unison, that First Nations are foundational partners in the creation of Canada, and our relationship cannot be changed or moved just from politics," Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak told The Canadian Press in an interview.

"As long as the sun shines, the grass grows and the river flows, we're all treaty people in Canada."

"We've got a beautiful country. If you don't want to be part of it, you're free to leave. You won't be taking any land with you," Woodhouse Nepinak said. Here’s the story, https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/afn-national-chief-king-charles-alberta-9.7220961

Uxbridge Urban Provincial Park is being expanded by 23 acres to protect ecologically significant lands in the Oak Ridges Moraine.

The 23 acres of new land, which was recently transferred to the province by Metrolinx, would be added to the park’s northern boundary, providing a greater connection with the Town of Uxbridge and protection of grassland habitat. Potential uses of the land include more trail connections and a parking area to support sustainable outdoor recreation, such as hiking.

CBC News reports the federal government has ordered a financial audit into transactions and activities at the Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages after receiving anonymous complaints.

Half a dozen sources, including former employees, say that in its five years, the commissioner's office has failed to move the needle on strengthening Indigenous languages and supporting research.

Instead, they say, the office has focused on extensive travel and hosting one big conference.

Last year, the office spent $10 million hosting a four-day conference in Ottawa.

There are also allegations of a toxic work environment, bullying, uncompleted projects and staff quitting in frustration.

Over $5.5 million in funding for the Township of Scugog over five years may become a reality if council passes a Municipal Service Agreement (MSA) extension between it and OLG

The agreement is said to provide needed funding to the township from the OLG in exchange for the provision of municipal services to the Great Blue Heron Casino, and represents an anticipated five-years of additional funding to the township beginning on April 1, 2027, for a total expected amount of over $5.5 million dollars during that period.

This amount represents an important source of funding in return for the provision of services such as maintenance of township roads providing access to the casino and includes the provision of fire and emergency response services for the casino.

In reponse to the Senate of Canada - Sénat du Canada vote against residential school denialism bill

“To have the Senate outwardly reject all recommendations, during Indigenous History Month no less, from this committee is not only wrong, but should be a scary revelation for all Canadians,” said Grand Council Chief of Anishinabek Nation.

“Canada is picking and choosing which human rights they protect, no longer even trusting the very Senate committee established to provide a human rights-specific perspective.”

travelled to Toronto to speak in support of preserving outdoor education opportunities.

This article in .cawrites that Chief Kelly LaRocca said she views developments at the as a potential indicator of what could happen elsewhere in Ontario.

"The Toronto District School Board to me serves as a barometer quite often for what is to come," she said.

She argued outdoor education provides students with opportunities to build relationships, learn teamwork and develop a connection to the natural world.

"Outdoor education and land-based learning cannot be for the privileged few," she said.

When asked about the TDSB cuts last week, the education minister said that “there is a reimagining or redistributing of certain resources.”
