I thought Labour Day would be a great day to share that I have received endorsement from the New Westminster & District Labour Council for my re-election bid! 💪

The NWDLC will be posting its full list of endorsed candidates for municipal elections in the coming weeks and I encourage interested voters to follow them for those updates. They generally endorse one mayoral candidate and several Council and School District Trustee candidates from each of 14 Metro Vancouver municipalities.

Happy Labour Day long weekend, Port Moody!

My partner took this picture of me in the spring - I was replying to emails for both my full time job and my Council job one evening. In the last several months, I’ve added campaigning and door knocking…I am tired and my back hurts, I won’t lie! 😅

So today, I took off from any work to take my girls back-to-school shopping then watched my youngest dance at the K-food festival at Lougheed Mall - we are so lucky to have such great cultural events right here in the Tri-cities 🍜🥟

Labour Day is a great reminder to take time to rest. I’m going to bed early tonight but will be back out door-knocking tomorrow ✊🏻

Personally, I love fall and getting back to a routine - to all the parents out there like me, happy back to school! 📚🎉🍂

Wanted to share this update from one of Port Moody’s small business owners.

A few days ago, the owner posted that she had been approached to provide free product to a celebrity in town. She declined to do so and explained exactly why these asks are so problematic (and in my opinion, inappropriate) to ask of small businesses. I am putting a link to that post here in the comments.

In response to that post, she has received abuse and poor reviews. Being a business owner and entrepreneur is incredibly risky and hard flipping work. To try to harm a small business for not providing you with free product is deplorable.

All this to say - Oh Sweet Day Bake Shop makes INCREDIBLE cakes and deserves your business, Port Moody! The hazelnut latté cake is my favourite but I have many yet to try!
