We at Saint Vincent de Paul in Port Hope are pleased to announce that we are again sponsoring the Fill a Purse for a Sister Program. In the last three years we have distributed Purses throughout Northumberland County and Trenton. These go through shelters, food banks, churches and police stations to women around Christmas.
The gift of a purse - and seeing the care and thoughtfulness that goes into filling it with necessities that many of us take for granted - can help boost the confidence of a woman at a shelter who is working to rebuild her life, according to the shelters.
With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting everyday life, this initiative is need now more than ever. We thank you for your past support.
It has been a challenge to determine how to proceed with the 2020 Fill a Purse for a Sister Campaign in a safe manner. This year we will not have drop off locations for the purses. Instead we will have a curbside or porch pickup with a cut off period of December 1st, 2020. Please email: [email protected] and one of our members will reach out to you to advise when he or she can pick up your donation.
We are in uncharted waters. These are challenging times for us all, we hope you and your family are in good health and spirits. Now more than ever our community needs us, and we need you.
